• Who’s Staying?

Solihull Moors have confirmed that they have taken up the twelve month options on two players, keeping them contracted until next summer.

Firstly, defender Alex Gudger has had his stay extended, following a very impressive season for the Moors. Last season, Gudger made 32 appearances for the club in the National League. He also matched the previous seasons goal tally, netting three times. The 29-year-old will now be hoping to go one better next season and take the club into the EFL for the first ever time.

The other player staying is Solihull’s star man Joe Sbarra. The 23-year-old made 46 appearances in the league last season, including the play-offs and had his best ever season. He scored a very impressive 18 goals in the league, which helped fire the club into the play-off places and almost on the brink of the EFL. That is huge news for Solihull Moors given the amount of sides that will be keeping a close eye on Sbarra ahead of next season.

  • Who has been offered a new deal?

Following the conclusion of the 2021/2022 season, Solihull Moors have offered contracts to four players ahead of next season.

Firstly, midfielder Jamey Osborne has been given the opportunity to extend his stay at the club, after joining back in 2018. Last season, Osborne made 31 appearances, scoring twice in total, and developed a strong midfield partnership with Callum Maycock and/or Kyle Storer. Unfortunately for Osborne, a refereeing mistake which saw him undeservingly sent-off, saw him miss the play-offs. Therefore, if he opts to extend his stay, he will be full of passion to go again next season.

Elsewhere, full-back Reiss McNally has also been offered a fresh contract with the club. The 21-year-old was limited to just four National League appearances last season, falling behind James Clarke in the pecking order. He also had a brief stint at AFC Telford United on loan, making eight appearances for the club. With Solihull already losing two full-back’s (more on that shortly), it could create an opportunity for the youngster to break into the first team next season.

Forward Justin Donawa has also been offered a new contract with the club following the conclusion of the 2021/2022 season. The 25-year-old made 14 appearances for the club last season, scoring twice in the National League. He’s found game time hard to come by this season but his goals have earned valuable points for the club.

Finally, striker Kyle Hudlin has also been offered a new contract by the club after scoring in the clubs play-off final against Grimsby Town. He made 25 appearances last season, scoring five goals and has attracted interest from League One side Sheffield Wednesday as well as Championship side Huddersfield Town. His future remains unclear at this stage.

  • Loanees Have Gone Back

Following the conclusion of the 2021/2022 season, loanees; Harry Boyes, Callum Reilly, Joe McDonnell, Mark Ellis & Lois Maynard have all returned to their parent clubs after successful spells with the club.

  • Released

Solihull Moors have confirmed that seven players have left the club, following the expiry of their contracts.

Firstly, experienced striker Adam Rooney has confirmed his departure from the club. The 34-year-old joined the club from Salford City in summer 2020 and made a total of 53 league appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals. He provided some great individual performances but missed out on the play-offs due to injury.

Full-back Jordan Cranston has also been let go by the club, leaving Solihull Moors without a first team left-back. Cranston arrived from Morecambe again in summer 2020 and made 62 league appearances for the club. He managed one goal during the 2020/2021 season but fell second fiddle behind Sheffield United loanee Harry Boyes last season.

Elsewhere, striker Danny Newton has also been let go, leaving the club without a first team striker for next season at this moment. The 29-year-old joined the club earlier on in the season and went on to make 37 league appearances. Newton will be disappointed to only score five times and his departure is possibly the biggest surprise on this list.

Young goalkeeper Niall Clayton has also been released after falling down the pecking order at the club. He failed to make a first team appearance, only making the bench once. This was on the opening day of the 2021/2022 season, during a draw against Wrexham

Right-back Ben Usher-Shipway has also been let go. The 23-year-old made a total of 16 National League appearances for the club. He had a brief loan spell at Stourbridge in the opening month of the 2021/2022 season, and now he moves onto pastures new.

Full-back Melis Bushaj has also been released after failing to make a first team appearance in the league. He’s spent the last couple of months, on loan at National League North side Leamington FC, where he made seven appearances as the club finished mid-table.

Finally, goalkeeper Tom Allsopp has left the club, following the expiry of his contract. The 19-year-old has been named on the bench several times this season, including both FA Cup matches against Wigan Athletic earlier on in the season.

Thank you to all of the clubs departed players, we wish you all the best in the future.
