10 Players Solihull Moors Could Look To Sign This Summer

First on the list is former Stockport County defender Lois Maynard who will become a free agent this summer, following the expiry of his contract. The 33-year-old, joined the club on a season long loan last season, making 30 appearances in total and scored two goals. With Solihull Moors, keen to add defensive presence to their side next season, a possible return for Maynard is certainly on the cards.

  • Jonny Ngandu (Free Agent)

Next on the list is former Coventry City academy graduate Jonny Ngandu. The 20-year-old possesses plenty of raw talent and spent the last couple of seasons as the clubs U23s captain. This includes a role in guiding Coventry to the PDL2 Title last season. He only made one first team appearance for the club but was always ranked very highly and a move into the National League, should be the perfect place for Ngandu to kickstart his career.

  • Erico Sousa (Free Agent)

Former Grimsby Town winger Erico Sousa is available on a free transfer this summer following the expiry of his contract. The Portuguese winger scored twice last season for the club, but put in an exceptional performance in the play-off final against Solihull Moors. A move for Sousa could allow Solihull to move Andrew Dallas into the strikers role which could be a real blessing in disguise.

  • Tyrese Shade (Free Agent)

The 22-year-old striker spent last season on loan at League Two side Walsall but has now been released by Leicester City. He scored twice last season and can also operate as a winger, so is a similar type of player to Andrew Dallas. He is available on a free and given his location, Solihull Moors could be the perfect place to recapture his youth form.

  • Anthony Glennon (Free Agent)

The 22-year-old has been officially released by now Championship side Burnley, following a loan spell at League Two side Barrow. Glennon is a left-back which is exactly what Solihull Moors need after Harry Boyes’ loan expired and Jordan Cranston was released. Glennon is also good mates with current Moors defender James Clarke following his time at Burnley. With wages being the only possible stumbling block, could we see Glennon in a Moors shirt next season.

  • Tom Leak (Free Agent)

Time for another centre-back now, and former Walsall man Tom Leak could be an excellent addition for the Moors. Location wise, it’s an ideal move for him, especially joining a young and hungry side, desperate for promotion to the EFL. The 21-year-old was limited to just six league appearances for The Saddlers last season so finding a club for regular game time will be one of the most important factors in Leak’s decision this summer.

  • George Williams (Free Agent)

Welsh striker George Williams will become a free agent this summer after leaving League Two side Barrow following the expiry of his contract. The 26-year-old has had difficulties with injuries throughout his career after being highly rated at Fulham as a youngster. Williams scored once in 18 appearances last season and can also operate on the left hand side. He has pace and with confidence he could be an excellent goalscoring option, especially given the departures of Newton & Rooney and possibly even Hudlin.

  • Cian Harries (Free Agent)

Welsh defender Cian Harries will become a free agent this summer, once his contract at Bristol Rovers expires at the end of June. Harries’ career is yet to take off after leaving Coventry for Swansea City. He scored once in 16 appearances last season and will be keen to find a permanent club to settle at. Solihull Moors play solid, passing football which could definitely play to Harries strengths and with him being on cheap wages, it’s certainly possible to see him at the ARMCO Arena next season.

  • Farrend Rawson (Free Agent)

Centre-back Farrend Rawson has just been released by League Two play-off runners-up Mansfield Town. The 25-year-old made 30 appearances last season, scoring once but fell out of favour at The Stags. Rawson has a history of playing in the Midlands, turning out for Derby County, Coventry City & Mansfield Town and he could be a very reliable defender at the back for the Moors next season, competing alongside Callum Howe and Alex Gudger

  • Jay McGrath (Coventry City)

The final player on this list is Coventry City U23s defender Jay McGrath. McGrath is a left-back which is a position in which Solihull Moors are in desperate need of. Since arriving from Mickelover Sports, McGrath has powered through the youth teams and is now a firm starter at U23s level. He put in an exceptional performance during their PDL2 success and a loan move is exactly what he needs. Given the history with Coventry players, being loaned out to Solihull e.g. Declan Drysdale & Jordon Thompson, it’s definitely a firm possibility.
