Brentford met Manchester United in a game in which both teams searched for their first win of the season.

Josh Dasilva opened the scoring after David De Gea failed to push the ball away from goal, Mathias Jensen then added a second not too long after.

Things went from bad to worse for United after conceding two in five minutes. The first coming from a Ben Mee header, shortly followed by Bryan Mbeumo's goal after getting on the end of an Ivan Toney pass.

Brentford

David Raya – 8/10

A very good performance from the Spaniard without having to do much in terms of shot stopping. commanded his box well with good distribution.

Rico Henry – 6/10

Henry was not directly involved in any of the goals but still impressed, always quick to ball whilst good going forward.

Ben Mee 7/10

Mee was solid in his home debut for Brentford, even getting a goal after some poor defending from United at a set piece.

Pontus Jansson – 6/10

He was not asked of much from a struggling Man Utd attack but was always strong at the back, heading away any danger.

Mads Roerslev – 6/10

Another player who was not asked of much from United’s attack but was always in the right position and kept his shape well.

Aaron Hickey – 6/10

Another Brentford new signing who performed well in front of the home fans. He defended well, with strong challenges whilst drawing lots of fouls to break up the game.

Mathias Jensen – 10/10

A man of the match performance from the Danish Midfielder - he pressed well throughout, which led to his goal after poor distribution from De Gea.

He did well to assist Dasilva in his goal whilst playing a part in Mbuemo's goal with a fantastic ball. An unbelievable performance.

Christian Norgaard – 7/10

A solid defensive performance from Norgaard. Created the protection for the back three and did not put a foot wrong in possession - a very professional performance from the midfielder.

Josh Dasilva – 7/10

Started the scoring at the Gtech community stadium, with a bit of fortune from a goalkeeping mistake. Looked very comfortable in the Brentford midfield.

Bryan Mbeumo – 8/10

Led the press from the front very well and finished well under pressure after Toney’s great pass for the final goal. He worked hard, sprinting back to win the ball on various occasions.

Ivan Toney – 8/10

Like Mbeumo, Toney pressed the united back line and midfield very well. The Englishman gained two assists in the process, too, meeting the ball to head to Mee and playing a superb ball for Mbeumo.

Substitutions

Yoanne Wissa – 5/10

Always looked good on the ball and even tested De Gea late in the game, which could have made it five.

Shandon Baptiste - 5/10

With little time to make an impact, Baptiste did well in drawing fouls far up the pitch.

Vitaly Janelt – 5/10

He did not have enough time to make a big impact but was made a good chance late on to test De Gea.

Mads Bech Sorensen – N/A

His only highlight was a poor touch on the ball, which led to an Eriksen shot that could have been turned in

Frank Onyeka - N/A

He came on too late to have a real impact on the game.

Man Utd

David De Gea – 1/10

A horrific performance from United’s number one - he was at fault for both of the first two goals, failing to palm Dasilva’s shot away and passing straight to an under pressure Eriksen with nowhere to go.

His distribution was poor throughout and failed to command his box - his days look numbered under Ten Hag.

Luke Shaw – 2/10

He struggled in the 45 minutes the left-back played. Often being beat in the air from Raya’s long kicks, he struggled to make any impact going forward.

Lisandro Martinez – 2/10

Another player who struggled to cope with Thomas Frank's pressing side, also struggling in the air. The Argentine was beaten in the air for Ben Mee’s goal, with his height being a key factor.

Harry Maguire – 4/10

Maguire did not add much at all for United. Although not at fault for any of the goals, his only efforts involved clearing the lines from the back.

Diogo Dalot – 3

The right-back struggled to make an impact on the game and was very poor in possession, constantly booting the ball out of play and to Brentford players.

Fred – 2/10

Done nothing in his 45 minutes, struggled to maintain possession and was out of position throughout. Another poor performance.

Christian Eriksen – 5/10

The only United player that produced anything positive from the game. He constantly tried to get united on the scoresheet, with two chances that did not test Raya too much. He was also dispossessed a lot.

Bruno Fernandes – 3/10

Bruno was poor in possession, constantly passing or clearing to red and white shirts. His only chances were blazed over the bar, and he does not look like the same player that first impressed at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford – 3/10

Rashford is yet another player that did not threaten Brentford’s goal whatsoever - his only highlight was a yellow card out of frustration in the 88th minute.

Jadon Sancho – 3/10

Like Rashford, Sancho struggled to break down the solid Brentford back five and created very little before being taken off for Anthony Elanga.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 4/10

The Portuguese striker was short of service all game with only half chances presented to him by his teammates. A couple of headers were his only real chance to beat Raya.

Substitutions

Tyrell Malacia – 3/10

Had a similar half to Shaw, with his only highlights clearing the ball for united or getting an occasional tackle in.

Raphael Varane – 4/10

Varane’s presence improved United’s backline, and he was able to clear away much more than Martinez, although not a player that particularly impressed.

Scott Mctominay - 2/10

Brought on the second half, Mctominay was never in the game. Caught in possession constantly and rarely found a pass. Always looked five paces off play, another player whose time at United could be coming to an end soon.

Anthony Elanga – 2/10

Did not add anything to the game whatsoever - with the occasional press that led to nothing.

Donny Van De Beek – N/A

Did not feature much after coming on late in the game.
