Neal Maupay has been unveiled as an Everton player in a £15 million deal, VAVEL.com takes a look at what he brings to Goodison Park

The 26-year-old Frenchman scored 26 Premier League goals in three seasons at Brighton, providing seven assists.

Only West Ham (0) and Wolves (1) have scored less than Everton's two goals so far this season.

Manager Frank Lampard told the club's official website that he is delighted with the addition.

He added: "Neal provides a goalscoring threat, as well as bags of energy and a fighting spirit that are vital to what we're building at the Club."

  • 'Fighting spirit'

The 26-year-old attacker is known for his aggressiveness, but that energy, tenacity and grit is exactly what the Blues need.

He gained a reputation last season for last-minute equalisers, scoring a stunning overhead kick at West Ham, a 98th-minute strike against Southampton and a chip against the Seagulls' arch-rivals Crystal Palace

His celebration after the goal against the Saints was to shush the fans, and that sums up Maupay, always winding up the opposition.

It was evident in 2020 when he fired Brighton to a 2-1 win over Arsenal and accused the Gunners of 'lacking humility' post-match.

Maupay had accidentally collided with opposition goalkeeper Bernd Leno, forcing him off with a serious knee injury.

After the incident, he said:

"One of them was talking the whole game and saying really bad things... When I scored I just had to say 'listen, that is what happens when you say bad things on the pitch."

That type of determination is exactly the type of attitude that made Richarlison a fan favourite at Goodison Park.

  • Richarlison replacement?

£15 million represents a small chunk of the £60 million that the club received for Richarlison.

Maupay is only 9 months older and has only scored four less than the Brazilian in the Premier League since the 2019/20 season.

He can also operate on the left or centrally like the former fan favourite.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin out injured for the foreseeable future, he is also not a stranger to being the leading man.

He is also capable of playing as a second striker in partnership with a player like Calvert-Lewin as shown by the dynamic duo he formed with Danny Welbeck.

For £15 million, it is an extremely good signing and one that will likely be viewed favourably by fans and pundits in years to come.
