After a chaotic week on and off the pitch, Bournemouth will be hoping to get their season back on track as they visit big spenders Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The South Coast club were hammered 9-0 by Liverpool at Anfield last weekend, which resulted in Scott Parker losing his job due to him not being aligned with the board on the club’s strategy going forward.

Gary O’Neil was named as interim manager, and he oversaw an encouraging 0-0 draw with Wolves on Wednesday night.

The feeling could not be more different at Forest, and they made it 21 summer signings on deadline day to break the British record for most acquisitions in a single transfer window.

Centre-back Willy Boly from Wolves, defender Loic Bade from Rennes, and winger Josh Bowler from Blackpool all came through the door on Thursday to complete the squad.

But they did suffer a humbling 6-0 defeat to an Erling Haaland-inspired Manchester City in midweek, so it will be interesting to see how Steve Cooper’s men bounce back.

Centre-back Moussa Niakhate continues to be sidelined with a hamstring injury that is likely to keep him out until after the September international break.

Omar Richards is another injured player, who is out with a fractured leg, and midfielder Orel Mangala’s thigh injury hasn’t healed in time for Saturday’s clash.

Jesse Lingard, Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis will be looking to possibly start after all three were named on the bench in midweek.

  • Team News – AFC Bournemouth

Midfielders Joe Rothwell and Ben Pearson remain out for the meeting between the promoted sides.

Gary O’Neil revealed Rothwell is ‘getting closer’ to returning from his thigh injury, while Pearson’s knee will keep him out for the weekend.

Kieffer Moore will be hoping to return to the starting line-up after being dropped to the bench for the 0-0 draw with Wolves.

  • Previous meetings

The Cherries have held the bragging rights in recent meetings between the sides, and they did the double over Forest last season.

A 2-1 victory at the City Ground in August 2021 was followed by a 1-0 home win in May, which sealed automatic promotion to the top flight for the Dorset team.

In fact, Forest have not beaten Bournemouth since February 2015, when Jamaal Lascelles and Henri Lansbury found the net in a 2-1 triumph.

  • Ones to watch

Renan Lodi – Nottingham Forest

Out of the 21 players that have arrived at the City Ground this summer, the Brazilian is perhaps the one who raised the most eyebrows.

He has left the bright lights of the Champions League for a potential Premier League relegation battle, after falling out of favour with the Spanish side.

Big things are expected of the left-back, who may even be eyeing up a World Cup place.

Dominic Solanke – AFC Bournemouth

The Cherries have not scored a Premier League goal since the opening day when they beat Aston Villa 2-0.

They will need to sort out their issues in front of goal if they are to stay up this season and Solanke is possibly the best bet to find the net.

The Chelsea academy graduate scored 29 goals in the Championship last year, and he will want to prove he can step up a level.

  • Predicted line-ups

Nottingham Forest: Henderson; Worrall, McKenna, Kouyate; Williams, Yates, Freuler, Lodi; Lingard, Gibbs-White; Johnson

AFC Bournemouth: Neto; Smith, Mepham, Kelly, Zemura; Tavernier, Lerma, Cook, Christie; Billing, Solanke

  • Where to watch

The match will kick off at 3 pm, and highlights will be available on the Sky Sports Football YouTube channel after full-time.
