A late goal from Gianluca Scamacca gave West Ham a crucial win at Anderlecht, to put them into a comfortable lead at the top of Group B of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

They now have a five point advantage over tonight's opponents and will look forward to hosting the Belgian side, next week, in an attempt to extend the gap at the top.

Throughout the game, West Ham looked like the team most likely to break the deadlock. Other than a decent spell for Anderlecht, in the second part of the first half, the visitors were the more threatening team and had wasted a few very good chances to go ahead, earlier in the game.

With time running out, Scamacca produced a precise, low finish to relieve the fears that the visitors may rue their missed opportunities.

These are the player ratings from Lotto Park:

Anderlecht

Hendrik van Crombrugge - 6.5/10

Could not do anything about Scamacca's accurate finish for the goal. Had a few decent saves to make from Benrahma's attempts at goal earlier in the game.

Zeno Debast - 7/10

The most impressive of the Anderlecht backline. The 18-year-old looked a physical and technical presence, well beyond his young age.  Rarely significantly troubled by the West Ham forward line.

Wesley Hoedt - 6/10

Was able to keep up with Antonio in a physical battle on a few occasions. For the most part, looked impressive at the heart of the three-man defensive partnership.

Hannes Delcroix - 6/10

Had a few difficulties dealing with the pace and energy of Bowen down his side. A decent performance, without being able to leave too much of an impression.

Michael Murillo - 5/10

Won none of his six aerial and ground duels, but had some limited success going forward, putting a good cross, which Silva could have earned an equaliser from.

Francis Amuzu - 5/10

Subbed off at half-time, after spending a bit of time on both the left and right side. Failed to make much of a positive impact on either one, but retained the ball fairly well.

Amadou Diawara - 6/10

Played the more central, holding role of the midfield trio. Was not able to exert a great deal of control over the game, but was generally a decent presence. Taken off late in the game, as the hosts searched for an equaliser.

Majeed Ashimeru - 6/10

Much like the rest of the midfield, a respectable, but unremarkable performance. Contributed both in attack and defence with some positive moments, but could have perhaps done more to deal with Bowen's bursts through the middle of the pitch.

Kristian Arnstad - 6/10

Was the slightly more impressive of Anderlecht's midfield three. Covered good ground down the right side and completed six tackles, but was fortunate to get away without a booking following a nasty tackle on Downes in the first half.

Yari Verschaeren - 7/10

His impressive solo run led to a powerful strike at West Ham's goal - one of the very rare times when Areola was tested. Seemed comfortably Anderlecht's most significant attacking threat and a very good player,

Fabio Silva - 6/10

Was quite often involved in the game. Had a late header, which could have earned his team an unlikely equaliser. In hindsight, he may regret not placing it slightly further away from Areola's reach. A fairly positive and active performance.

Substitutes

Julien Duranville (45') - 7.5/10

A hugely impressive substitute performance from the 16-year-old. Looked a very lively presence down the left side - able to help his team up and down the pitch. Looks to be a very promising talent.

Benito Raman (65') - 6/10

Was involved in a few physical battles with the West Ham defenders, but did not have enough time to make a significant impact on the game.

Lior Refaelov (80') - N/A

Moussa N'Diaye (87') - N/A

Sebastiano Esposito (87') - N/A

Alphonse Areola - 7.5/10

A crucial late save ensured that West Ham kept a clean sheet and held onto the win. Other than that, a long-rage effort from Verschaeren was the only time he was really called into action.

Ben Johnson - 7.5/10

A positive return to the team, after a spell out injured. Much like he did in a few games earlier in the season, he was forced to demonstrate his versatility, by playing in a wide centre-back role. A good contribution both on the ball and defensively.

Craig Dawson - 8/10

The only West Ham defender who can claim back-to-back clean sheets, as he was the only one to also take part in Sunday's win against Wolves. It was another fantastic performance from the experienced centre-back, who was at no point troubled by the Anderlecht players.

Angelo Ogbonna - 7.5/10

As the rest of the back three, a very assured defensive performance. Wondered quite high up the pitch at times, particularly in the second half, where he helped maintain the pressure West Ham were creating.

Vladimir Coufal - 6.5/10

Rarely had any defending to do, was mostly located in the opponent's half, where he was able to complete a couple of crosses and have a positive impact on the team's play.

Emerson Palmieri - 6.5/10

Much like Coufal, helped West Ham to keep the ball well, by providing a good outlet out on the wing. Also won eight out of his ten aerial and ground duels.

Flynn Downes - 8/10

Completed a lot of defensive actions - seven combined tackles and interceptions and very often came on top in physical battles with his midfield counterparts. Very assured on the ball, also. A brilliant game.

Manuel Lanzini - 6/10

Was part of the triple substitution after 70 minutes. A decent performance, where he maintained possession very well. Had a strike at goal from a decent position, which he dragged wide.

Jarrod Bowen - 8/10

Created the best chance of the game for Benrahma and seemed the most likely source of a West Ham goal, prior to the introductions of Paqueta and Scamacca. Often drove with the ball very well through the middle of the pitch.

Said Benrahma - 6/10

Was the liveliest player on the pitch - with a total of six shots at goal in his 70 minutes. Certainly lacked the end product and will be very disappointed not to put away the aforementioned chance, crated by Bowen.

Michail Antonio - 6.5/10

A few good moments of hold up play and link-up with his team-mates. As he usually does, caused defenders issues with his pace and strength. Wasted his only half-decent sighting of goal, with a poor strike. Other than that, a positive performance.

Substitutes

Lucas Paqueta (70') - 8/10

Saw a lot of the ball following his introduction. Provided the assist for Scamacca's goal, with a smart, accurate through ball for the forward to be able to strike first-time.

Declan Rice (70') - 7/10

His long pass to the right side was a crucial part of West Ham's goal. Introduced an important bit of energy and quality into the team.

Gianluca Scamacca (70') - 8/10

His goal rounded off a very impressive cameo. Linked up very well with his team-mates on a few occasions and produced some neat bits of footwork and control. The goal was a fantastic bit of forward play, including a smart bit of movement and perfect finish.

Pablo Fornals (86') - N/A
