Jurgen Klopp does not believe that a potential takeover will restrict Liverpool's January transfer activity.

On Monday, reports broke that FSG had put the club up for sale, with their 12 year tenure drawing to a close. As per David Ornstein of The Athletic, Liverpool director Mike Gordon is stepping back from his current role, handing the reigns to chief executive Billy Hogan to take on greater responsibility. It is suggested that this was to allow Gordon to focus on the sale of the club.

The sale of an asset priced at excess of £4billion is likely to be a lengthy process with suggestions that Liverpool's transfer activity will be limited due to maintaining the value of the club. However, Klopp does not believe that this will be an issue, with future transfer plans still undecided.

"It is not about money, you have to plan. It is definitely going on, it's clear. I am very positive about the whole thing because either way it will be fine.

"I have a really close relationship with the owners and I always knew what we can and can't do. When we were discussing, it's not that I ask something, they say no and I stop asking.

"It is just before we speak to you there are plenty of discussions. Now we have to see what we do. Nothing is decided, what we will do in the winter.

"We really have to see, we have time before then and we follow the market all the time, every day. There is no player in the world who scores a goal and we don't know it. That's how it is.

"If somebody makes a save, we know it. That's the situation, that's what will go on. It's clear. All the rest, we are not involved in these things and that is okay. We have to focus on football and that's what we will do."

After facing high levels of scrutiny this season, Trent Alexander-Arnold was included in Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad to the delight of the Liverpool boss.

Speaking Post-Match after Liverpool's 2-1 triumph over Tottenham last Sunday, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville doubted that the right-back would make the cut, stating that he would not be trusted by Gareth Southgate and is capable of rash moments:

"It's a really tough one with Alexander-Arnold. His brilliance going forward is out of this world. But we're talking about knockout football. Whether England win or lose in a World Cup is going to be down to moments.

"In a World Cup, I think he's giving away a penalty (for his push on Ryan Sessegnon). I don't think Gareth will trust him in a knockout game, which means will he then take him? If he's got four brilliant right-backs, will he go?"

After Alexander-Arnold's seat on the plane to Qatar was guaranteed, Klopp responded to Neville's claims, jumping to the defence of his right-back:

"I heard now Gary Neville said something about him not being able to play in the knockout games but Trent Alexander-Arnold is now 24 and he won quite a few finals, that is a very important game where you have to defend.

"We played finals against Chelsea last year, both finals were incredibly intense, top class players, world-class players, in moments better than players you face in the World Cup, like in the finals we played against Tottenham and Real Madrid and he was always there, always defended well.

"I think he would have been disappointed if he had not been there (the World Cup). I am not sure he was in doubt but with all the discussions, if everyone had been available it was likely you don't take four right-backs. I saw his face and realised he was really happy about it."

The Liverpool boss revealed that James Milner is back in contention after he suffered a concussion. He confirmed that Naby Keita and Luis Diaz are both progressing in their rehabilitation from their long-term absence.

"Nobody is out from the players who were available in midweek. Milly is back in training today. Naby is out and running and Lucho is back on the pitch and running."

Joel Matip, who has not featured since the beginning of October is also back in training but Saturday is likely to come too soon for the 31 year old.

"Joel trained with us. He was in pretty much the whole session, but the last bit he didn't do. He is available as well, or would be available but has only trained once with the team."
