Brentford made it three wins in a row against West Ham United last Thursday; now target a fourth as they host the Hammers at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

It has not quite gone to plan for David Moyes' side since the Premier League's resumption. Their poor domestic form continues and has extended to six matches without a win, losing to Arsenal and Brentford before ending a five-game losing run with a 0-0 draw against Leeds United.

West Ham have not failed to progress from the FA Cup third round since 2017, but face a club that is a thorn in Moyes' side, as he has won once in six meetings, a 2-1 win with Preston North End in October 1999, and never defeated them on their turf.

The Bees have caused the Scotsman embarrassment in the past, with a side placed 18th in League One defeating Everton on penalties in 2010 after holding the Premier League outfit to a 1-1 draw after extra-time at Griffin Parkand will be aiming to inflict additional misery on an already forgettable season.

Nowadays, a 'giant-killing' is not as an infrequent sight as it once was, particularly at home. The hosts enter the fixture with the momentum of earning the club's first win over Liverpool since 1938 following an emphatic 3-1 win under the lights on Monday.

Both Thomas Frank and Moyes spoke of a desire to go on a cup run this season in the build-up to the match. However, one man's dream lifting the historic trophy in May must come to an end this weekend.

Team News

Brentford

The Bees will again be without Ivan Toney as the centre-forward recovers from a muscle problem sustained in their win at the London Stadium last week.

Thomas Strakosha is in contention to make his first appearance since September after he returned to the squad on Monday following a long absence.

Aaron Hickey is not ready despite being back in full training; Shandon Baptiste (groin), Pontus Jansson (hamstring) and Frank Onyeka (hamstring) are also unavailable for this fixture.

Frank has confirmed that Kristoffer Ajer will be back in the squad for the first time since late October while new signing Kevin Schade will be involved.

West Ham

The Hammers may be without experienced defender Vladimir Coufal, pending a late fitness test, after the 34-time Czech Republic international was forced off during their mid-week draw with Leeds.

Kurt Zouma has missed the last three matches due to a knee problem and will again be absent from Moyes' side. However, the Frenchman is expected to return to training soon.

Maxwel Cornet will be another absentee. The 26-year-old travelled to Paris this week to receive an injection in his calf and is expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Likely lineups

Brentford

Strakosha; Roerslev, Zanka, Pinnock, Henry; Dasilva, Onyeka, Damsgaard; Lewis-Potter, Mbeumo, Wissa.

West Ham

Areola; Johnson, Aguerd, Ogbonna, Emerson; Rice, Soucek; Lanzini, Fornals, Benrahma; Antonio.

Key Players

Brentford: Yoane Wissa

The 26-year-old was called upon in Ivan Toney's absence on Monday and was a star performer as helped the Bees to a historic win over Jurgen Klopp's side.

Wissa, alongside his strike partner Bryan Mbeumo, caused havoc for Liverpool's defence as they struggled to contend with their speed, movement, and combination play. He was denied twice due to offside before at last getting his goal in the 42nd-minute with a fine downward header.

He was unable to have an impact from the bench in their previous meeting with West Ham last month, but the opposition's fans will be aware of him and his ability to produce at important times, most notably a 94th-minute winner at the London Stadium in October 2021.

With Toney set to miss out this weekend, Thomas Frank will again rely on his joint-second top scorer to fill the void.

West Ham: Said Benrahma

Benrahma needs no introduction to Brentford fans having adored him during a three-year spell with the club before he switched west London for east in 2020.

The tricky Algerian has been a shining light for the Hammers in what has been a gloomy campaign to date. He is the club's joint-second top scorer with five goals in all competitions in what has been a low scoring team.

A sight to behold at times, Brentford will hope that it's not one those days for him when he steps onto the turf in west London on Saturday. He is someone that is capable of producing a moment's magic from nothing and Frank will make sure his side remain alert of his presence throughout the match.

Their 27-year-old was one of their biggest threats in the meeting last month and it expected to be reinstated into Moyes' line-up after dropping to their bench last match.
