Wolverhampton Wanderers' Malian forward Nouha Dicko has brought to an end months of speculation linking him away from the club by putting pen to paper on a new contract at the Championship side.

The prolific 23-year-old had been linked with clubs in the Premier League and elsewhere in the Championship, with Roberto MartinezEverton the club most strongly linked with his signature.

But the prolific striker has brought these rumours to an end by signing a new three-year deal at Molineux, which will see him stay at the club until the summer of 2018.

Dicko is a Molineux favourite

Mali interantional Dicko has established himself as a fans' favourite at the club since joining for £300,000 in January 2014, as his goals helped Kenny Jackett's men bounce straight back up from League One after a torrid spell which saw successive relegations from the top flight.

His goalscoring continued last season and he formed one of the most potent attacking partnerships in the Football League with star man Bakary Sako and former Arsenal forward Benik Afobe, signed from the Gunners for a bargain £2million fee in January.

Jackett is relieved to have kept his man

And Jackett is understandably pleased to have kept Dicko at the club as he looks to take Wolves back to the Premier League, having missed out on the play-offs on goal difference alone last time out.

Jackett told the club's official website that it has been a "really productive summer" thus far with Dicko committing his future to the club, underlining the importance of the "commitment" shown by the forward in signing a new deal.

Dicko, meanwhile, echoed Jackett's words, saying he was "really happy" to have put pen to paper at a club where he feels comfortable, going on to thank the backroom team, playing staff and fans for their continued support.

Dicko in, Sako out?

However, Dicko's Malian compatriot Sako could still be on his way out of the Black Country, with Everton also thought to be on the hunt for his signature.

Jackett has recently conceded that he "very much doubts" that Sako will be turning out for Wolves next season with "Premier League options" on the table.
