Wolves have added strength to their midfield core with the purchase of Liverpool-born man Conor Coady, signing from Huddersfield Town on a three-year deal.

Coady only joined the Terriers last summer, having been bought from Liverpool following an impressive loan spell at Sheffield United in the 2013-14 season.

The transfer fee is expected to be around £2million, meaning that Huddersfield will have made significant profit on the £375k investment they made on Coady last season.

Conor has impressed wherever he has been, leading to him playing 39 times for the England National Team from U16 through to U20 level.

On May 12th 2013 he made his Premier League debut for Liverpool in their 3-1 away win at Fulham, before being loaned to Sheffield United where he made 39 appearances and scored five.

It was with the Blades that he drew the eye of the Terriers, and upon the end of his loan they were quick to bring him in.

Since being introduced to the squad, he has looked a very capable, promising Championship midfielder who is deeply influential in games, and arguably future captain material for whichever side he spends his future at.

Coady was voted 'Players' Young Player of the Year' in the end of season awards at Huddersfield, a fitting testament to his continued development.

He scored against Wolves at Molineux with a thunderous strike back on October 1st 2013, one of the three goals he scored for the Terriers in 44 games.

Huddersfield must re-invest money

Coady is a big loss for Huddersfield Town, who are up there with some of the favourites to be relegated this season, despite being comfortable for the whole of last season.

Two million pounds represents a lot of money to be re-invested (minus the sell-on fee Liverpool will receive) and it is important they improve on weak areas such as defense, and perhaps drafting in another midfielder to fill the void.

The signing of veteran Dean Whitehead, released by Middlesborough, perhaps pointed to this transfer happening, nevertheless some Huddersfield fans would love to see young players such as Phillip Billing and Sondre Tronstad given a chance to impress.

Manager Chris Powell revealed he felt the transfer represented "outstanding value for the club" in an interview on htafc.com, adding that he felt it was "the right move for the club on balance."

Wolves to make promotion push?

After an impressive return to the Championship, Wolves will be looking to crack the top six this season as they continue to build under manager Kenny Jackett.

The signing of Coady represents ambition and desire to be one of the Championship powerhouses, and we can expect more dealings from them before the end of the window.
