The wife of Inter Milan striker, Mauro Icardi has claimed that Arsenal have been one of the many clubs expressing an interest in her Husband. Wanda Nara is not only the wife of the Inter star, but also his agent, dealing with aspects of his career path and movements.
A few days ago, Nara commented on Inter’s supposed plans to sell the striker, despite the couples’ reluctance to leave Milan.
Icardi, who scored 16 goals for Milan in 33 appearances last season has attracted interest from all over the world, as the European hunt for a striker seems to be the situation for many clubs this transfer window.
Nara stated in a recent interview that, “Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Arsenal have made contact. Napoli and Roma are also interested now.” Many leagues across Europe have shown their desire to have Icardi playing in their colours next season.
Nara seemed confused by Inter’s rumoured plans to sell the superstar, saying: “They can’t say Icardi is not for sale and then talk to other clubs.”
To the disappointment of the clubs monitoring Icardi’s movements, Inter indirectly responded to Nara claims of their desire to sell, by stating on twitter that their club captain was very much not -under any circumstances - for sale.
Same old story for Arsenal
This was a blow in particular for Arsenal, who unlike their fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur, have failed to sign a striker this window. Tottenham introduced the signing of Vincent Janssen earlier this week, all but ending their link with Icardi.
Arsenal have been linked in speculation with many world renowned names so far since the opening of the transfer window, stars including Alvaro Morata, Alexandre Lacazette, Julian Draxler and of course the annual link with Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain.
Arsenal have been revitalised with the re-emergence of Chuba Akpom, following his loan spell at Hull City. The youngster will be hoping to complete his breakthrough season at the club this year, however, the Arsenal fans will be wanting him to do so alongside the guidance of the new signing that they have craved for so long.
It will be a challenging season for the Gunners, even more so should they not further their pursuit to find a prolific goal getter.
