Aston Villa face their first trip to London this season on Saturday, as they're welcomed to Selhurst Park by Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Looking to build upon a solid start to the season, in which they've taken three points from their opening two games, Villa fans will be hoping for more goals than are usually produced in this fixture.

Form

A win and a loss so far for Villa, leaves them in 10th place in the Premier League, a much improved effort from their 17th place last season.

Kicking off with an away trip to AFC Bournemouth, it took some excellent stops from goalkeeper Brad Guzan to keep the score at 0-0, before a powerful header from Rudy Gestede in the second half handed Villa 1-0 win.

The second game ended somewhat more disappointingly, as Tim Sherwood's men succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Manchester United last Friday, Adnan Januzaj's first half goal the difference between the two teams.

Palace have had a similarly inconsistent start to the season, winning one and losing one of their opening games. A win away at Norwich on the opening day was welcome, but they couldn't take anything from last week's game against Arsenal.

Team news

There could be two welcome returns to the Aston Villa squad, with Jack Grealish and Carles Gil both on the verge of returning from injury after featuring in an under-21 game earlier this week.

They'd certainly add some attacking threat to a side which has lacked creativity so far this season, scoring just once so far, from a set-piece.

Another welcome addition could be that of Adama Traore, who completed his move from Barcelona last week. He's in line for a debut after featuring alongside Grealish and Gil for the under-21's, however the bench is a more realistic prospect for the winger.

Julian Speroni and Marouane Chamakh are still out for Palace, but they could introduce new signing Bakary Sako into the squad.

Destined for a low scoring draw?

The sides have met on four occasions since the Eagles were promoted back to the Premier League, and it's been fairly even ever since.

Two wins for Palace, one for Villa and a 0-0 draw have produced just three goals, meaning that we could expect to see a low scoring draw on Saturday, with both sides attempting to cancel eachother out.

However, huge shake up's in the transfer window for each club this summer could change things, especially with two new managers at the helm, both keen on setting up to play attacking football.
