Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has assured fans that he can find a place in the team for both Carles Gil and Jack Grealish, as he considers their selection for this weekend's game against Crystal Palace.

Two men back in action

Grealish and Gil, two of the most creative players in the Villa squad, have missed the opening two Premier League fixtures with injuries picked up in pre-season, however are both targeting a return to the match-day squad this weekend.

Working extensively with Villa's backroom staff to get fit for this game, they each featured on Monday for the under-21 team, and are expected to make the bench at least.

Their respective returns come as a huge boost for Villa, with the Midlands team having only scored once in the league this season, from a corner kick.

Questions have been raised over whether or not they'll be able to fit such attacking players together in a line up, however, speaking in his pre-match press conference, Tim Sherwood rubbished these claims.

"You can play both of them," insisted the manager, assuring fans that they "enjoy" being on the pitch with eachother.

Will Villa kick on against Palace?

It's a fair assessment that, with 10 new signings, the Villa squad haven't quite jelled as a whole yet this season. Sherwood explained that it would be "hopefully very soon" when the team click into gear, but he doesn't expect it to take too long.

The Palace game will be another tough test for Sherwood's team, as they come up against a side packed with talent, including the likes of Yohan Cabaye, who the Villa boss described as a "top player".

He stressed that his team "have to be aware" of their counter-attacking style of play, as they look to "use the pace of Zaha, Puncheon and Bolasie".
