Newly-promoted Bournemouth are reportedly targeting a summer move for Brentford's Spanish playmaker Jota, as Eddie Howe prepares for life in the Premier League.

The Cherries won the Sky Bet Championship on the final day of the regular season, and are said to have made the 23-year-old their primary transfer target for the coming months.

Jota scored eleven goals in 46 appearances for Brentford this season as they defied expectations in winning a play-off spot, having made a £1.3million pound move from Celta Vigo last summer. It is not the first time Bournemouth have been linked with the midfielder, and boss Howe scouted him personally in Brentford's recent 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough at Griffin Park.

And while he still has two years remaining on his current contract, it is thought that the opportunity to play in the Premier League could prove a huge pulling factor for the player. Howe's side are also thought to be leading the race for Birmingham's young starlet Demarai Gray having had a sizeable bid knocked back for the 18-year-old in January, though Liverpool could also be interested.

Gray scored six goals for Blues as they finished 10th in the Championship, and has turned out for England at under-18 and under-19 level.
