According to reports, newly promoted Premier League side Bournemouth are interested in signing Dimitar Berbatov, with the former Fulham, Tottenham and Manchester United striker out-of-contract at Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

The 34-year-old Bulgarian forward joined Monaco in January of last year in a six-month loan deal whilst Fulham were still in the Premier League, and Berbatov netted seven goals in 26 league appearances. He scored against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds, as the French side managed to reach the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in over ten years, before being eliminated by Italian giants Juventus, who are coincidentally in Saturday's final against La Liga champions Barcelona

Monaco's vice president Vadim Vasilyey had this to say, on the club's website: "Dimitar Berbatov showed all his talent and a great professionalism. He is clearly among the greatest strikers who played for AS Monaco. We are proud of what he brought to the club and wish him the best in the future.

If the experienced striker, who spent six years in the English top flight, does in-fact join Eddie Howe's team, he'll become the club's fifth signing just a few weeks after having been promoted from the Sky Bet Championship - Artur Boruc, Adam Federici, Joshua King and Christian Atsu (loan from Chelsea) have all joined since the end of the season.
