French forward, Yann Kermorgant has today penned an 18 month deal with the Championship club Reading after falling out of favour at Dean Court.

Following the additions of Benik Afobe, Lewis Grabbon and Juan Iturbe in an attempt to bolster his attacking options, Eddie Howe has allowed the 34-year-old to depart the South Coast after two relatively successful seasons.

Fan favourite

Kermorgant had only been at the club for two years having joined in the January transfer window in 2014, however fans will look back on his time well. After joining, he scored on his debut for the club against Doncaster Rovers in a 5-0  Championship win. Since then, the Frenchman  has become somewhat of a cult hero down in Bournemouth as he netted 15 goals in their title-winning season to help send the club to their first ever season in the Premier League.

Had to move on

Nonetheless, he has only taken part in a limited amount of games this season. Making only seven appearances which included a goal against Hartlepool in the Capital One Cup earlier on in the season, he has been on the fringes of the team since promotion.

As it happened, the former Leicester City man made his last appearance for the club last weekend in the 3-0 win over Norwich as a substitute.

Looking to kick on

Kermorgant is yet to get settled at a team and his move to Reading makes them his 9th team in his 14 year career. Although, wherever he has gone he's got a fair number of goals, so supporters will be hoping that he can replicate his form from the best spell of his career at Charlton where he netted 29 times for the London club spanning from 2011-2014.

He departs Bournemouth having scored 24 goals from 57 matches.

Solid addition for Royals

The 34-year-old bolsters Reading's attacking options as they look to turn their season around after falling to 14th place in the table after starting the season so brilliantly. The Royals have only scored a disappointing 31 goals so far this season from 27 games and if not improved, they will soon be looking over their shoulder as sooner or later they could be serious candidates for relegation.
