Bristol City has completed the loan signing of Lee Tomlin until the end of the season, from Bournemouth.

Chances limited

The 27-year-old joined the Cherries from Middlesbrough for £3million having previously played for Peterborough. The midfielder has made just three starts in the Premier League this season, and has managed just one goal which came in the 2-1 FA Cup win over Birmingham City earlier this month.

Chance to shine straight away

Should he start, the midfielder will face Birmingham once again at the weekend when the two teams meet at Ashton Gate in the Championship.

Tomlin has been given the number nine shirt at Ashton Gate, bringing the club a huge boost for the run in to the end of the season as the club sit 22nd in the Championship, just one point adrift from safety which is currently occupied by Rotherham.

Boss pleased with addition

"We've been monitoring his situation at Bournemouth and it's great that we've been able to bring him on board," said Bristol City's interim manager John Pemberton.

Solid career up to now

The midfielder started his footballing life at Rushden and Diamonds, scoring 38 goals in 198 appearances for the club from 2005-2010, before moving to Peterborough Town for four years between 2010-2014. Scoring 40 goals in 121 matches, Tomlin was unable to prevent the club from relegation back to League One in the 2012-13 season.

He then spent just the one season at Middlesbrough where he played 56 times scoring just the 11 goals in his only season for the club, before the Cherries made the move for the midfielder last summer, signing Tomlin for just £3million.

Tomlin did come through the academy at Leicester City, but didn't ever make a first team appearance for the club as he moved on to Rushden and Diamonds
