One step forward two steps back, Newcastle are probably the perfect fit to the word inconsistent. Last week they had two contrasting halves of football at Goodison Park, in the first half they shipped three golas in display that Alan Pardew would be keen to forget. In the second half they almost earned a point with two second half goals from Yohan Cabaye & Loic Remy. Newcastle's poor start has resulted in large amounts of pressure to be thrown at the Newcastle manager, he has reiiterated that they must win: .“There is going to be pressure and social media has added to it. The bottom line is that this is a big club and you have to win games."

His opposite number, Malky Mackay has backed the incumbent Newcastle manager to success with Newcastle: “I was his captain at West Ham and I know he is a man who can bring stability to Newcastle United – that is why they gave him a long-term contract. " Mackay will of course be hoping that Pardew's success follows Saturday's game. Another three points would be monumental as they attempt to assert the Cardiff City Stadium as a fortress. Looking at the run of Cardiff home fixtures, the Newcastle game is probably the first identified as 'winnable'. If Newcastle start in the same vain as they did on Monday, there is only winner and that is Cardiff.
