The transfer market is currently busy and shows no signs of slowing down. Chelsea have been relatively quiet this summer, signing Asmir Begovic and Nathan, and selling Petr Cech and Josh McEachran

In addition, Radamel Falcao has been brought in on loan, and Andreas Christensen, Christian Atsu, Lewis Baker, Gael Kakuta, Mario Pasalic, and Marco van Ginkel have been loaned out.

However, Blues manager Jose Mourinho would do well to sell or loan a few players on his first team who simply have not shown they have what it takes to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Filipe Luis

The Brazilian left-back arrived at Stamford Bridge with high hopes in 2014 after Chelsea bought him from Atletico Madrid for £15.8 million. However, he found himself sidelined for most of the season, making only 26 appearances, as Cesar Azpilicueta started in defence.

Filipe Luis showed his skill at Atletico, winning La Liga and the Europa League in his time at the club, and there's no doubt he's a great footballer. However, as long as Azpilicueta continues to impress Mourinho, the 29-year old would most likely be happier elsewhere.

His failure to challenge Azpilicueta for playing time and cement himself in Chelsea's back line has led to his unhappiness at the club, and Atletico are reportedly in talks with the fullback to lure him back to the La Liga side.

Oscar

Even after three years with Chelsea, there remains a question mark over the Brazilian midfielder. Last season, Oscar scored seven goals for the Blues. In the 2013-14 season, he scored 11, and in his debut season, he scored 12. His goalscoring record has been on the decline, and as an attacking midfielder, it's important that the opposite happens and he improves in front of goal.

In addition, it is unknown whether or not he can last a whole season. Oscar has been involved in the Olympics, Confederations Cup, and the World Cup in addition to his time playing for Chelsea, and the work understandingly took its toll on him. However, in order to build a winning side for the second season in a row, Mourinho needs to only consider players who can last the whole season and play consistently.

Oscar is a solid player who works hard and has many years left in him, but his moments of brilliance have been coming too few and far between as of late. Mourinho probably won't sell him this summer, but there's no doubt that other clubs are interested, and the Portuguese may consider letting go of the player who has too often proven inconsistent.

Juan Cuadrado

Juan Cuadrado was a promising signing in January 2015, but failed to impress in his first six months at the club. The Colombian played in only 12 Premier League matches including four starts, and did not make much of an impact on the pitch.

Many attribute his underwhelming performance to adjustment to English football. That may well be the case as Cuadrado showed better form while representing Colombia in the Copa America this summer, giving hope to some that that improvement would transfer to the Premier League.

However, even if the winger does improve over the next season, he would still be competing with the likes of Willian and Eden Hazard for minutes. That's not to mention 27-year-old Spanish international Pedro, should Chelsea succeed in signing him from FC Barcelona.

Mourinho has said that he wants to give Cuadrado another chance to adjust to Premier League football, but his pursuit of another winger who has experience playing for a title-winning club may indicate otherwise.

Loic Remy

The French striker joined Chelsea from Queens Park Rangers for £10.5 million in 2014 after netting 14 goals in 26 games for the Magpies.

However, Loic Remy found himself second-choice striker to Diego Costa, and even third-choice striker at times in favour of Didier Drogba. Remy only made six starts for the Blues last season, scoring seven times.

It looks as if the 28-year-old will be Mourinho's third-choice striker again next term with the addition of Radamel Falcao to the squad.

In addition, Mourinho's pursuit of Aleksandar Mitrovic suggests that he has lost confidence in the Frenchman, who is linked with a move to Crystal Palace to rejoin former coach Alan Pardew.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

The midfielder fell out of Mourinho's good graces last season after a seeming lack of effort in a friendly against Sydney FC. The manager openly criticised the 19-year-old, saying, "this is not under-18s."

While it is clear that Ruben Loftus-Cheek will not be starting for the Blues in the 2015-16 campaign, he will be hoping to impress in the pre-season tournament in order to regain Mourinho's trust.

It is not often that a player as young as Loftus-Cheek makes it onto the Chelsea first team as Mourinho tends to trust older, more established players. In order for Loftus-Cheek to get playing time, he would have to work thrice as hard as his teammates. Given his youth and what he's previously shown on the pitch, the possibility of that happening seems unlikely.

Mourinho has a solid midfield currently, but perhaps he would do well to trade out one of his weak links for a more established player that would actually have a chance at earning playing time.

Clubs have expressed interest in Loftus-Cheek, including Aston Villa, who originally asked for the English youngster in the deal that would see Asmir Begovic join the Blues. Mourinho refused, leaving the possibility of his stay or his sale open.
