Chelsea's talented attacking midfielder Kasey Palmer has completed a season-long loan deal to join Championship side Huddersfield Town. The 19-year-old, who has continued his progress through the youth ranks at Cobham since his switch from Charlton Athletic as a schoolboy, is eager to gain first-team experience in a competitive environment.

He has impressed club coaches, and played a pivotal role in their UEFA Youth League success last term - as well as featuring heavily on the international stage at various youth levels. With that being said, it'd be beneficial for his development to have first-team experience elsewhere before the decision is made as to whether he's ready to feature for the senior squad, similar to the role that fellow midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been given over the past year or so.

Palmer eager for regular first-team minutes

The Terriers, who finished in a disappointing 19th place last term, will be hoping for better fortunes all-round as they can potentially challenge for a play-off spot with the lure of the Premier League on the horizons, provided they maintain good spells of consistency throughout the season and avoid a losing run.

Palmer said he "liked" what the manager David Wagner had to say about the club, as well as his expectations for him.

Sacrifices made as Kasey looks to establish competitive edge

"As soon as we met and I looked around, I felt this was the right place for me."

There are seemingly no questions about Palmer's ability, although one criticism of his game at the moment is the fact that he can go through large spells of matches where he's hardly involved. Some of his new supporters may be skeptical as to whether he can hold his own in the competitive league, considering the significant step-up in physicality from developmental to men's football.

With that being said, he feels "ready" to "take the next step", and is prepared to move away from both his family and friends in order to succeed.

"I believe we can help Kasey make the next step in his career and send him back to Chelsea a better player." - David Wagner on Palmer
