FT: Watford 1-2 Chelsea (Capoue 55' - Batshuayi 80', Costa 87')

87' After a long delay for an injury to Capoue, Chelsea pick up where they left off and go ahead. Fabregas plays a superb pass through to Costa, and he makes no mistake with the finish through Gomes' legs.

THE CHELSEA OF OLD HAVE RETURNED! THEY'RE AHEAD!

80' A run of errors hands Chelsea their equaliser! Amrabat's throw in goes straight to a Chelsea player, and they switch the ball across the pitch to Hazard who strikes at goal. Gomes can't hold it and Batshuayi is on it in a flash.

GOAL! BATSHUAYI LEVELS!

75' 15 minutes left at Vicarage Road. Chelsea yet to test Gomes properly in this game. Watford seem happy to try and defend this for the remainder of the game.

72' Costa has a shot blocked by Cathcart to save Watford, who are now under severe pressure from the Blues.

70' Jon Moss now fails to book Costa for a second time after an obvious dive on the edge of the area. Poor from the referee.

67' Not a lot happening at Vicarage Road but Chelsea have had a penalty appeal turned down. Cathcart lucky to get away with it.

62' Matic drags a shot well wide after a promising piece of play by the Serbian, who still hasn't recovered from last season's dip in form.

59' Chelsea respond through Hazard, as his first shot is saved by Gomes before a cross is headed narrowly wide by Costa.

He's making a habit of this! After his goal last week, Capoue is full of confidence and a cross to the back post finds the Frenchman. He controls and then smashes a volley past Courtois and into the roof of the net. 1-0!

GOAL! WATFORD LEAD THROUGH CAPOUE!

54' A half chance for Hazard at the back post comes after Oscar's cross went the whole way to the back post. He can't direct it home, though.

51' Nightmare news in the stands - the Watford mascot has given up on trying to play the drum. This is more exciting than the game.

49' Nothing of note in the opening exchanges in this second half. Both managers talking things over with their staff in a bid to get things going.

Second half! We're back underway, with no changes for either side.

HT - Watford 0-0 Chelsea

44' Chelsea are furious! They feel there's been a back pass in Gomes' direction after he twice failed to gather a simple ball on the ground, but Jon Moss is having none of it.

40' Costa has a shot deflected past the post by some brace Watford defending. It's just not happening for either side today.

36' Britos goes into the book after hacking down Hazard on the half way line. Moments before, Gomes came and claimed a deep free-kick superbly.

32' Terry does well to clear a Holebas cross after Ivanovic afford him too much room. The ball falls kindly on the edge of the area, but is fired well over.

28' A couple of corners and a couple of crosses go in at either side but it's comfortable for their respective defences. Very little in the way of clear-cut chances.

24' Superb defending from Cahill! He manages to get a vital touch on Amrabat's cross, which otherwise would have been a relatively simple tap in for Igahlo.

22' Both Mazzarri and Conte have donned their coats as the rain begins to tumble down at Vicarage Road.

19' Jon Moss produces the first yellow card of the game, after Deeney hacks down Hazard when he was bursting through the middle.

15' Watford have survived that momentary scare and look solid once more. They're yet to trouble Chelsea defensively, who seems very comfortable in this one.

10' Cathcart is beaten by Hazard's raw pace and it requires a desperate challenge from Britos to deny Costa at the back post. Amrabat needs to stick to his defensive duties, otherwise Cacthart is in for a long afternoon.

7' Watford respond! A superb ball over the to Holebas from Britos sees the Greek wing-back speed through on goal, but Courtois saves well with his feet.

6' Chelsea have been the brighter side thus far, and a tricky run from Diego Costa sees the Spaniard earn a corner. It is quickly cleared by Watford, however.

2' First touch of the ball for Gomes as Hazard works his way inside from the wing before finding Azpilicueta, whose shot is easily saved.

Kick-off! We're underway at Vicarage Road.

Just one change to the starting elevens of either team, with Pedro replacing Willian on Chelsea's right wing. Otheriwse it's as you were.

And the Chelsea starting eleven: Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Kante; Pedro, Oscar, Matic, Hazard; Costa.

Team news! Here's your Watford line-up: Gomes; Cathcart, Prödl, Britos; Amrabat, Behrami, Capoue, Guedioura, Holebas; Deeney, Ighalo.

Predicted Chelsea line-up: (4-1-4-1) Courtois; Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta; Kanté; Willian, Oscar, Matic, Hazard; Costa.

Predicted Watford line-up: (3-5-2) Gomes; Cathcart, Prödl, Britos; Amrabat, Guedioura, Behrami, Capoue, Holebas; Deeney, Ighalo.

It is expected to be as you were, as far as the Chelsea line-up is concerned. The Blues have no suspensions or fresh injury concerns following their win over the Hammers, and only long-term absentees Marco van Ginkel and Kurt Zouma are unavailable. Cesc Fabregas, who has been rumoured to be leaving, may be on the bench again.

Watford will be without Ben Watson are the midfielder came off the bench to pick up two quick yellow cards and the Premier League's first red card of the season. Given that he didn't start, Mazzarri should name the same starting eleven that took to the field against Southampton. Both Brice Dja Djedje and Isaac Success are doubles.

These two teams have met three times at Vicarage Road in Premier League history, with the most recent meeting ending in a 0-0 draw. The visitors have only scored one goal against Watford away from home, with Salomon Kalou's last-gasp goal in 2007 proving the difference; the Hornets won the other meeting back in 1999. Last season's fixture at Stamford Bridge also ended level, this time a 2-2 draw. Will we see another close game on Saturday afternoon?

Chelsea opened up their quest to put last season's dismal, shambolic showing to the back of the memory as quickly as possible with a 2-1 win over West Ham United. It was a fine performance by the West London side, who dominated the derby game. Eden Hazard opened the scoring from the spot but they were brought back down to earth with James Collins' half volley. However, Diego Costa was on hand to notch a last-minute winner and secure a Monday night win at the Bridge.

Today's hosts began their latest Premier League adventure with a 1-1 draw away at Southampton, a highly credible result. A rare strike from Etienne Capoue opened the scoring for Walter Mazzarri's men, only for Nathan Redmond's volley to save a point for the Saints. Nevertheless, a very promising performance in the Italian's first game in charge.

Good afternoon and welcome to VAVEL's live text commentary of Watford's game against Chelsea on the second Premier League matchday of the 2016-17 season. The Hornets will be full of confidence after a solid defensive showing and hard-fought draw last weekend, with the hopes of continuing that in front of their own fans. As for the Blues, despite a build-up filled with doubts over how their now boss would settle in, they started the season with a highly impressive winning performance.
