Until next time, this was Kaustubh Pandey and thank you for joining me here for VAVEL's live text commentary of Chelsea's clash at King Power Stadium this evening. It really was a long, yet entertaining one here today. Ciao everyone!
FULL TIME IN EXTRA TIME. And after a game that saw defensive lapses at both ends cost both outfits heavily, its Chelsea who come out on top. The real tipping point for Leicester was the Wasilewski's red card, which acted as a hammer blow to their hopes of qualifying for their next round. In the end, it was Cesc Fabregas' extra-time brace that took Chelsea through and it came as a relief for the Spaniard, who will be more than just happy with his performance here today.
ET29' As Chelsea play on a walking pace, Leicester players hope for the last blast in the whistle more than anything else, which will put them out of their misery. Its been one of those nights.
ET27' As Fabregas looks for an unprecedented hat-trick, Chalobah threads a pass through to the Spaniard, who had made a run a bit too quickly He gets caught off-side.
ET19' As Jamie Vardy breaks through on the right, David Luiz brings him down. The Brazilian sees a familiar yellow. He got caught out of position again, after having being caught napping multiple times in the game.
ET16' Seems more like a training ground routine for Chelsea now. Its only a matter of playing through the remaining fifteen minutes.
HALF TIME IN EXTRA TIME. Fabregas, who has seen a limited amount of action under Conte this season, has probably sealed it already. Wasilewski's sending off changed the whole dynamics of the game really, apart from Costa's introduction coming in as a fear-factor factor in the second half. Leicester will seek referee's misery to bring the game to an end.
ET13' Ben Chilwell sees yellow after commiting a reckless challenge on Chalobah near the right touchline. The youngster has put in an impressive showing tonight.
ET10' Leicester struggle to even go past the half way line as Chelsea continue to enjoy themselves on the pitch. Ranieri's seemingly trying to motivate his players, who look disgruntled and tired.
ET6' Chelsea come close to finding their fifth as Zieler parries away a Nemanja Matic effort by going down to his left, as Chelsea settle for a corner.
ET4' GOAL!! FABREGAS SEALS IT!!! After struggling Leicester failed to clear a corner, with the ball bouncing across the box, Fabregas chested it down and blasted it home. And what a relief that is for the Spaniard. 2-4.
ET2' GOAL!!! FABREGAS PUTS CHELSEA AHEAD! Much before Leicester could wake upto their senses, Chelsea drilled the first nail in their coffin. A Hazard back-heel after a good passage of plays found Fabregas, who placed the shot well past the stranded Zieler.
FULL TIME. As extra time looms, the game has certainly lived up to its expectation despite both sides not fielding their first team players. Its all to do for Leicester now. Its all about guts and determination now. Something Leicester are used to playing with.
90+3' Three minutes after Leicester had thrown on Daniel Amartey for Demarai Gray, the substitute lets Costa slip but the Spaniard shoots just wide once again.
88' RED CARD! As Eden Hazard comes on for Pedro, Marcin Wasilewski recieves his marching orders from Robert Madley. A pull-back on Costa ensures a second-yellow, leaving the referee with no choice but to send the Belgian off.
87' A Chelsea break leads to Drinkwater bringing Costa down some yards outside the box. The England International gets booked. David Luiz's resulting free-kick sailed just over the bar.
87' Schlupp lets go of a brilliant opportunity to score. A lovely delivery from the right by King saw the Ghanian leave to well, no one. A simple tap-in could've probably won Leicester the tie.
86' As the game gets stretched and both teams look to get a goal of their own, the shadow of extra time looms large.
84' A David Luiz clearance reaches Costa, who wriggles past and shows great strength against both Morgan and Wasilewski, but the striker's effort was straight at Zieler, who parried the rebound for a corner.
83' Nemanja Matic goes into the referee's book. First Chelsea booking of the game.
80' And its young Nathaniel Chalobah who makes his Chelsea debut. He comes on for Batshuayi, having represented England 98 times at various levels and made 97 appearances for various clubs while out on loan at Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Reading and Napoli.
77' With the introduction of two of Leicester's much adored stars, the Foxes have suddenly received a massive momentum boost.
75' Leicester make not one, but two changes. Jamie Vardy and Leonardo Ulloa have been brought on for Okazaki and Ahmed Musa.
74' David Luiz's misjudgement could've costed Chelsea dearly. Musa was almost clean through on goal, having the beating of pace on Cahill. His effort to lob Begovic landed on the other side of the net. The stopper got a finger tip to it. Close!
73' Ranieri opts against throwing Jamie Vardy on, forcing the Englishman to wait on the sidelines.
69' Costa was inches away from handing Chelsea an invaluable lead. The Spaniard had got in behind the centre-halves, but fired just wide of goal, fluffing an opportunity that was easier than Costa made it look.
68' WHAT A SAVE! Ron-Robert Zieler comes up with a blinding save to tip Batshuayi's effort from range away, after the Belgian had been given the time and space to have a pop at goal.
67' Loftus-Cheek has been taken of as Chelsea look to win this game. On comes Diego Costa.
66' As Chelsea come forward with purpose, Pedro drives through the Leicester defense. His shot gets blocked and the ball fell to Marcos Alonso, who never looked like scoring. The former Capital One Cup finalists' shot goes well wide of goal.
60' The Leicester crowd erupt and the noise accentuates, as Jamie Vardy begins his warm-up near the touchline. Diego Costa too is going through the paces.
58' Demarai Gray went down after King had broken free on the left. As the crowd and Leicester players appealed for a spot-kick, Robert Madley waived play on after realizing that Azpilicueta had drawn the foul on him by the former Birmingham City star. Right on the money.
51' Wasilewski sees yellow. The first of the game
50' GOAL!! A ROCKET FROM AZPILICUETA! Chelsea have equalized through one of the best right-footed volleys you're ever likely to see. The goal rooted from a quick Chelsea break after the Leicester corner. Zieler's gazes in admiration.
48' Chilwell wins a header towards the left of the Chelsea box. Jeffrey Schlupp breaks forward with pace and wins a corner after shooting through Cahill's legs.
46' Chelsea make a bright start as Victor Moses dances down the right, before cutting inside to find Fabregas. The Spaniard, who looks to curl one, hits it straight at Zieler.
45' SECOND HALF STARTS!
Meanwhile, Norwich lead 1-0 at Goodison Park, as Everton stare down the barrel at the first defeat of their season. Ragnar Klavan's first Liverpool goal has handed the Reds a lead at Derby, while Arsenal too hold a 1-0 advantage of Nottingham Forest, thanks to Granit Xhaka's second goal in two games.
HALF TIME. Its been one hell of an action-packed half, with both teams looking vulnerable at the back. Schoolboy errors at the back for Chelsea have costed them big time as Leicester have put in a trademark performance of theirs. They're pressing well up front, disallowing Chelsea room to play in the midfield and seem happy to afford possession to Antonio Conte's men, who will be desperate to make a good start in the second half.
45 +2' GOAL!! Cahill pulls one back! Wes Morgan lost Cahill at the far post as Cesc Fabregas picked out the Englishman perfectly. The 30-year-old's well-timed header had already glided past the goal-line before David Luiz powered it home. Its game on now!
45' Chelsea showing examples of great ball-watching as Okazaki fails to pick out Musa, who was making a run beside him.
44' Chelsea edge close to pulling one back after a cross from Victor Moses from the right fizzes past Batshuayi, who fails to control the resulting cross from Pedro. A chance goes begging.
41' Leicester come close to finding a third. But Demarai Gray fired wide after having drifted in from the left.
38' Batshuayi did come up with an impressive finish from some way out, but it came long after Robert Madley had blown for offside. Desperate.
33' GOAL!! Leicester double their lead! And it seems Okazaki has found his form at the right time. Pedro's loose pass found Andy King, whose great vision picked out Okazaki, who bundled it home as the ball was cleared again after it crossed the goal line. Chelsea have a moutain to climb now.
31' Loftus-Cheek goes past Andy King on the right, but Drinkwater was happy to concede a corner to Chelsea
29' Wasilewski's flailing arm caught Batshuayi unintentionally in the eye as the former Marseille man brought the ball down on his chest after having found space between the Belgian and Morgan.
26' Batshuayi's free header, that came after some good work down the left by Pedro, goes just wide of Ron-Robert Zieler's goal as Wes Morgan heaves a sigh of relief.
22' John Terry's absence quite evident again here. The goal was a result of Alonso losing the ball at the back, allowing Ahmed Musa to float in a delightful cross to Okazaki. As Begovic flapped at the ball with Chelsea backline clearing the ball away, Okazaki's header had crossed the line already.
16' GOAL!! And Leicester take the lead!. After Chelsea give the ball away cheapy once again, Shinji Okazaki stole in for the header before David Luiz could head it away. 1-0.
14' Gary Cahill gets caught in possession, as Musa latches onto the loose ball. The Englishman wins the ball back, leading to penalty appeals but Chelsea get out of jail.
10' Bathushayi appealed for a penalty after Pedro cross had apparently hit Wasilewski's arm. Ref waives play on.
9' Alonso's cross from the left gobbled by Zieler, but a tap-in from the on-rushing Batshuayi could've guided the ball home.
8' Chelsea are dominating possession, with Leicester happy to defend deep and play on the break.
5' OFFSIDE: A well weighted pass by David Luiz from deep found Pedro, who did score in an empty goal, but the referee had his flag up for offside.
1' Young Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is playing behind Michy Batushuayi, dribbles the ball out of play after attempting to take Danny Simpson on.
