Deal to sign Pep - done

In arguably the biggest story of them all, overshadowing transfer deadline day, Manchester City have today announced an agreement is in place for Pep Guardiola - formerly of Barcelona and Bayern Munich - to become the club's manager at the start of the 2016/17 campaign.

During his pre-match press conference, ahead of the sky Blues' trip to Sunderland tomorrow, current boss Manuel Pellegrini broke the news to unsuspecting journalists - first outlining the fact that he will depart the club on the date of his original contract expiry, as opposed to his revised contract extension late last year.

The Chilean, who has spoken frankly about the possibility of Guardiola succeeding him as City manager previously, was evidently gracious in the way he spoke, and there was ultimately a tinge of sadness - knowing the experienced gaffer, who led them to the Premier League and Cup double in his maiden season within England's top flight, will be departing at the end of the current campaign.

Loan moves elsewhere - complete

As for deadline day outgoings, talented young winger Patrick Roberts has joined Scottish champions Celtic on-loan for an 18-month period, whilst Enes Ünal has signed for Eredivisie outfit NAC Breda until June - and midfielder Bruno Zuculini has completed a loan switch to Greek side AEK Athens in the past few hours, too.

Chelsea await in tricky Cup tie

As drawn yesterday evening, following their comprehensive victory over Aston Villa, Manchester City have been drawn to face reigning League champions Chelsea in the FA Cup Fifth Round. Guus Hiddink's men - who are yet to lose a competitive fixture under his management - following on from José Mourinho's sacking in December, will be fancying their chances of progression into the quarter-finals of the competition.

But the Citizens too, will be also bullish about their opportunity to secure a Cup double, as they've already progressed to the Capital One Cup final - where they entertain Liverpool at Wembley in late February.
