City linked with summer move for Bazoer
Manchester City have been increasingly linked with a summer move to sign Ajax's talented midfielder Riechedly Bazoer. The 19-year-old starlet, who has been heavily tipped for success at the highest level in European competition, has been previously linked with a move away from the Eredivisie too.
Bazoer's older brother Irchandley - who is also his agent - met Chelsea's technical director Michael Emenalo at Cobham last week for talks. However, City's impending manager Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the teenager and would be eager to complete a deal to hijack Chelsea's advances.
Where does he play? Would he fit in?
A central midfielder by trade, who can operate in a more attacking role at CAM as well as defensive-minded work in the CDM position, his potential suggests he could be a stalwart in England's top flight for plenty of years to come, provided he does make the switch.
His current deal doesn't expire until the summer of 2020, and Ajax are understandably reluctant to sell one of their prized assets. Alongside the likes of Anwar El Ghazi and Viktor Fischer - both wingers - Ajax have plenty of wonderkids flourishing in their ranks.
If he were to make the switch to Eastlands, the transfer fee itself would be a hefty one.Serie A side Napoli saw a £20million pound bid rejected previously, whilst estimations suggest a fee would be around the region of £25-30million to seal his signature. This news comes days after suggestions hinted that Juventus' Paul Pogba is angling for a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona, as opposed to a possible return to England.
Bazoer would instantly become City's youngest midfield player, and with Yaya Touré's inconsistencies becoming increasingly apparent in recent months, he could be the perfect player to play alongside Fernandinho in a defensive-pairing - not to mention the signal of intent the acquisition would show to the rest of their title rivals.
