Manchester City’s İlkay Gündoğan has no regrets over his summer move to the Premier League and is enjoying life under Pep Guardiola.
The midfielder made the transfer from Borussia Dortmund last summer and has impressed this season when City have dazzled at times under Guardiola, who has a luxury of attacking talent.
The 26-year-old, who cost the Blues around £20m on his arrival from the Bundesliga, made 140 appearances for Dortmund, scoring 12 times and often providing the creative spark for the club under Jürgen Klopp.
Now plying his trade at the Etihad Stadium, Gündoğan has already impressed Blues' fans after netting twice in City's memorable Champions League victory over Barcelona.
He has also helped himself to three Premier League goals in his debut campaign and looks set to surpass that number over the course of the season, which got underway as the midfielder was still recovering from injury.
But now fit again, the German international said: “I do believe the summer was the right time to risk something new and I already say that Manchester City is the right club for me.
“You can see that you’ve arrived at a super club which has set out for great things and wants to develop great things in the coming years.”
Guardiola standards
Still adapting to life in England, Gündoğan has also revealed how his manager Guardiola expects profound commitment from his players, as they aim to fight for trophies on all fronts, something Gündoğan is relishing.
He continued: “He (Guardiola) sets the bar incredibly high. You get the feeling that 99 percent is not enough for him.
“He wants to have 100 percent and be completely sure that his thoughts are perfectly adjusted to the match and the opponents.”
Gündoğan is currently on international duty with Germany, and will hope to play a key role for Joachim Löw’s side as they face San Marino and Italy over the next week.
