New Manchester United signing Anthony Martial is 'so excited to be joining' the Premier League side, after signing late on transfer deadline day.

Martial signs for United as world's most expensive teenager

After reports first emerged that United had bid for Martial in late August, the young Frenchman put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Old Trafford, with a possible one year extension.

19-year-old Martial has become the most expensive teenager in football history, with the fee United paid to AS Monaco thought to be at least £36million. Martial says that he is "so excited to be joining Manchester United" after he "enjoyed [his] time at AS Monaco" who he thanks "for everything they have done" for him.

Martial dreamed of playing in Premier League

The former-Lyon striker says he has "always wanted to play in the Premier League" and signing on deadline means not only will he do that, but also playing in the Champions League. "To join the biggest club in the world is what every young football dreams of."

He is "looking forward to meeting" his new teammates, including David De Gea who will remain at Manchester United despite signing for Real Madrid. The Spanish goalkeeper's move to Los Blancos fell at the last hurdle due to paperwork not being delivered before the Spanish transfer deadline.

Young striker delighted to be working under Louis van Gaal

"Working with Louis van Gaal, who has achieved so much in his career" will be great for Martial, who still has years and years to develop as a striker, playing alongside United captain Wayne Rooney.

The pressure will be huge for Martial, as the most expensive teenager in football history. At just 19 years old, he is United's second choice striker with first choice Rooney failing to score in the Premier League yet this season. Fans must remember is age, but that proves difficult when the deal is so huge, as seen with Luke Shaw previously.
