Manchester United got blown away in the first 20 minutes as Arsenal scored three goals through a brace from Alexis Sanchez and a goal from Mesut Ozil, in a game where United thought they come and get something from, but Arsenal were too good for them.

The game started with Arsenal keeping the ball well with Manchester United just letting them have it, but Alexis Sanchez was already giving United a tough time when he came in on his right foot and passed to Theo Walcott and he won a free-kick in a dangerous position, but it was dealt with by United.

Arsenal two goals up in eight minutes

Arsenal took the lead in the sixth minute through Sanchez after a good pass from a Mesut Ozil and Arsenal had all of the ball, the goal was nothing more than they deserve. Arsenal didn't take long to get their second through Ozil in the eighth minute, after a splendid passing move with United's defence all over the place.

United started to get the ball for the next ten minutes after Arsenal's fast start, but Louis van Gaal's nervous side struggled to create any chances and needed to try and get a quick response. There were no signs of that happening as the game got into just it's 15th minute.

Sanchez scores a third for Arsenal

Arsenal made it three in the 20th minute through Sanchez and it made it game over for United as they just couldn't cope with Arsenal's fast, penetrating attackers. The problem was from United's midfield getting totally bossed by the Arsenal midfield. United's full-backs will have to assess the performance harshly, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian were getting torn to shreds.

After the third goal United had a lot of possession but again done nothing with it which is very worrying for Louis van Gaal to see, and now both full backs for United are on a yellow card and the last thing United can do is go down to ten men.

Another massive chance for Arsenal to make it four came through Aaron Ramsey as he missed a sitter and United's defence once again got ripped open by quick passing.

Finally after 43 minutes of nothing from United a big chance fell to Anthony Martial who spun Per Mertesacker, but Peter Cech came out and stopped it, and that would have been something to build on had United scored that.

United lucky to get to half-time only three goals down

Half time came with United three goals down and really it could have been more, as United just hadn't got going at all in the first half.

United made two changes at half-time, bringing on Antonio Valencia and Marouane Fellaini to try and keep the ball better and Memphis Depay and Darmian, who both had a really bad half, were substituted off.

United kept the ball better in the second half

The first five minutes of the second half started with United having most of the ball, and Young had a shot saved by Cech, but the signs were much better. The ball retention from United was much better for the first fifteen minutes of the second half, but the Red Devils were struggling to create anything that great, and Arsenal were still a threat on the counter-attack as Untied went forward.

Wayne Rooney finally did something useful in the game in the 62nd minute when he had a shot from the edge of the box well saved by Cech as United continued to look for a goal to try and get back in the game.

United created another big chance for Bastian Schweinsteiger who was played in on goal, but his touch took him too close to Cech and the goalkeeper kept it out.

Game quietened in last 25 minutes

The game petered out from the 65th minute onwards as United just couldn't create as much as they needed to get back in the match, in a bad day at the office for United and Van Gaal, who will have a lot of questions about his team selection for the game.

United need to pick themselves up quickly after the international break as they have a tough away trip to Goodison Park to play Everton, a place in which they struggled in the last few years.
