Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha says that current striker Anthony Martial has the same characteristics that Cristiano Ronaldo had to emulate his success at the club.
Saha convinced Martial can have a Ronaldo impact at United
Martial signed for United in the summer from Monaco for a fee of £36million and has instantly started showing his true quality at the club scoring ten goals so far this season. Saha, therefore, says he sees similar signs that Martial can have the same impact as Ronaldo had at United.
Speaking to the International Business Times, Saha said "I hope Martial can emulate what Ronaldo did at United" and if he does manage to do that then United will have some player on their hands.
Saha says Martial will only get better
The Frenchman continued to say "Ronaldo came when he was 18 and had this little issue where he was not passing the ball". Martial joined United this summer when he was 19 and sometimes his decision making isn't the best but with time the same as Ronaldo it will get better.
Saha says that when Ronaldo "clicked in his head, with the help of the manager, he became an amazing player" as he would go on to win the Ballon d'Or while at the club. Saha says he hopes "Martial will go in the same path as he has got the ability and strength to learn".
'Ronaldo was obsessed with his own game'
The United fans will be hoping that Martial does have the same success as Ronaldo at the club as he won three Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy before leaving the club. Saha feels that Martial could have this success too, but the difference was that Ronaldo was obsessed about his game.
Saha said "the difference when you compare any player to Ronaldo is that he was obsessed about his game" and for that reason alone it made him a better player. Martial just needs to keep his head down and hopefully, he will have the same success at the club.
