Manchester United's defeat to Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday has been a bitter pill for many United fans to swallow.
On the grand stage, with an audience of millions worldwide, The Red Devils put in another lacklustre performance against their greatest footballing rivals.
That said, they remain just one match from a trip to Wembley, in the Emirates FA Cup. A win on Sunday would be the perfect antidote to events of the past few days. Getting past The Hammers on current form, however, will be a tall task.
So who will Louis van Gaal enlist to complete the job at hand?
Borthwick-Jackson could return on the bench
With both Phil Jones and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson nearing a return to match fitness, both players are possibilities for Sunday.
Guillermo Varela played versus The Reds at Anfield, but with Matteo Darmian now fully fit, the Italian should return to the starting line-up.
If Borthwick-Jackson is passed fit, the 19-year-old could slot into left-back. The more likely scenario however, is that Marcos Rojo will continue. Chris Smalling will partner Daley Blind in defence.
Schweinsteiger may make first start since January
After Bastian Schweinsteiger made his first appearance from the bench on Thursday, since injuring his knee versus Sheffield United - also in the FA Cup - back in January, the German is pushing for a recall this weekend.
Marouane Fellaini was a positive in the midst of a shower of disappointment versus Liverpool and could continue alongside Ander Herrera in the midfield pivot.
The return of Schweinsteiger, though, could prompt a rethink for van Gaal in reuniting his partnership with Morgan Schneiderlin, but for fear of recurrence to his now problematic knee, Michael Carrick may partner the Frenchman.
Mata suspension leaves van Gaal with headache
With Juan Mata suspended after his dismissal versus West Bromwich Albion last Sunday, van Gaal has a number of options at his disposal.
Jesse Lingard should fill Mata's slot on the right. Fellaini and Memphis Depay are also alternatives, however the more likely option will see Herrera push forward into the number 10 role, with Anthony Martial on the left of the three.
Marcos Rashford, despite being goalless since his brace against Arsenal, should still continue to lead the line for United.
Predicted XI: De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Rojo; Carrick, Schneiderlin; Lingard, Herrera, Martial; Rashford.
