Anthony Martial has revealed that he’s excited about working under Jose Mourinho next season, and also the prospect of Zlatan Ibrahimovic coming to Manchester United.
The link to the Swedish striker came about when Mourinho was appointed at Old Trafford, and the speculation has increased ever since.
Martial keen on linking up with Ibrahimovic
Martial is currently suffering from a thigh injury, but is in France’s 23-man squad for the European Championships, and he is keen to see the 34-year-old Swede in the Premier League next season.
The 20-year-old is looking forward to working under Mourinho and he called him a “great coach” and “one of the best in the world”.
“If Zlatan was to come, it would be really good. He’s a great striker, he will bring us experience,” said the French international.
New contract is wanted by star player
Martial was one of United’s stand-out performers throughout last season and it is reported that he is wanting a new £100,000-a-week deal with the club.
The young forward joined the Red Devils from Monaco last summer for £36million and his goals helped United to their first FA Cup in 12 years.
He bagged 17 goals in his debut season in the Premier League, and after signing a three-year contract when he first arrived in Manchester, he is wanting a bigger contract.
The Sun claimed that Martial, who currently earns £68,000-a-week, wants to be paid £100,00-a-week and he will request talks with new boss Mourinho to discuss the likelihood of signing a new deal.
The Portuguese boss has already overseen two contract extensions since he took over from Louis van Gaal.
Youngsters Marcus Rashford, who became England’s youngest goalscorer on debut with his goal against Australia, and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson both put pen to paper in the past week.
