Daley Blind is happy to remain with Manchester United. New Inter Milan boss Frank de Boer said that he admires the versatile Dutchman, but the United centre-back claimed he is happy at the club. Blind featured in preseason and United’s first two games of their season, the FA Community Shield and the Premier League opener, a 2-1 win over Leicester City and a 3-1 win over AFC Bournemouth respectively.
De Boer and Blind go back
The Inter boss and Blind worked for four years before the 26-year-old moved to United in 2014, after Louis van Gaal brought him after he moved from managing the Netherlands to managing the Red Devils after the 2014 World Cup.
Whilst managed by de Boer, Blind established himself as a regular first-team player at Ajax. He was part of an Ajax team that went on to win for consecutive Eredivisie titles.
De Boer’s interest of course, came with the thought that he would not feature in Jose Mourinho’s side after the Portuguese said that he prefers specialists compared to players who were versatile. However, the Dutchman has proved he is more than capable to fit in Mourinho’s plans, adapting to his new manager’s coaching instructions quickly.
De Boer speaks
After Inter’s 2-0 win over Celtic, de Boer spoke about the potential Blind transfer saying that the team has a lot of good defenders and that they will see if they want to make a move. He continued with that by saying he likes Blind as a player, calling him fantastic. He then described that Blind is happy with United and played in the Community Shield.
De Boer says Blind is not the only ex-Ajax player he likes to keep an eye on and watch closely. He says he also does it with Tottenham Hotspur duo Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld and more.
