The most expensive player in world football, Paul Pogba, has revealed he has high ambitions and wants to achieve them with Manchester United.

The Frenchman made the move back to Old Trafford from Juventus in the summer for a world record fee of £89 million.

The dynamic midfielder explained his aspiration to be “number one” at the club and to “always be the best.”

Pogba has arrived at the club with a winning mentality and the quality to match it, something United will hope can propel them back to the heights of the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Having now arrived back where he played his youth team football Pogba feels his team are strong enough to win the Premier League, and go on to achieve more success in the coming seasons.

He said: “To be the best is to win the league- that is the objective of everyone. That’s what we want to do."

He added, “We want to go back to the Champions League because I know that’s where we belong.”

United the right place for Pogba

With major clubs across the continent all said to be interested in Pogba prior to his move back to England, the 23-year-old said he came back to the club as it was his desire and because the red devils intimated a strong desire to sign him.

The well coveted midfielder was reportedly wanted by Real Madrid and Barcelona, but it was the red devils who sealed his signature to announce themselves back on the elite stage of European football.

Other key signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan â€‹have also moved to Old Trafford to further strengthen United for this season, a campaign that they hope will at least see them qualify for Europe's primary competition next season.

The Frenchman Pogba has featured in two of United’s opening three Premier League matches, wins over Southampton and Hull City, and is expected to feature in the Manchester derby next weekend. A game fitting for the midfielder to truly announce himself as a United player by playing an integral role.
