INCIDENTS: Pre-season match between MLS strugglers LA Galaxy and English giants Manchester United. The match was played at the StubHub Center in front of over 25,000 fans.

That's all from me, folks! Stay tuned for the impending match report as Manchester United win their pre-season curtain-raiser in impressive style, sweeping LA Galaxy aside. I've been - an extremely tired - Alex Turk, and I hope you've enjoyed watching the match with me tonight (or this morning, whatever).

Man of the Match - Marcus Rashford: The young striker started his pre-season preparations earlier than the rest of the squad and it certainly showed tonight. His sheer pace and strength was too much to handle and should've got him a hatrick, but Kempin had other ideas. Rashford will, without a doubt, act as tough competition for Romelu Lukaku this season if he can continue the hard work.

FT: A very positive performance, but clear rustiness that will be shaken off in no time.

90: FULL-TIME! AND UNITED HAVE STARTED THE PRE-SEASON CAMPAIGN WITH A CONVINCING VICTORY!

88: Mourinho will be disappointed that his side have conceded from a set piece because of the height on offer, but that was a defensive mess ending in Romney's flick-on being tapped in by Giovani dos Santos. Cue more confetti..

88: GOAL! LA Galaxy finishing on top, and dos Santos gets a second!

85: United make a change with young left-back Demetri Mitchell replacing Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who was partly at fault for the Galaxy goal.

82: The home side look to have finally woken up, and so nearly have an instant second. The ball stays in play after top work from Boateng and is looped onto the head of the French winger, who nods a powerful header towards the goal only for Pereira to pull off a fantastic reflex stop.

79: LA Galaxy score with their first shot on target, but the play deserved a goal at the end of it. Fluid passing leads to Romain Alessandrini teeing up the experienced Giovani dos Santos, who beats Lindelöf easily and curls past the hopeless Joel Pereira.

79: GOAL! 5-1! LA GALAXY HAVE ACTUALLY SCORED!

72: A lovely Paul Pogba pass in the build-up finds Timothy Fosu-Mensah on the right flank and Martial peeled off his man for the Dutchman to lay it off. He received the ball, and the ball was dispatched. 5-0.

72: GOAL! 5-0! HERE COMES THE ACTION, A DESERVED GOAL FOR ANTHONY MARTIAL!

66: Anthony Martial, who has also looked increasingly confident since coming on, squares the ball for Henrikh Mkhitaryan who gives Rowe the eyes and sends the poor goalie the wrong way to make it four.

66: GOAL! 4-0! THIS IS VERY EASY, MKHITARYAN!

65: So nearly a debut goal, but not for the player you'd think it would come from! The ball falls nicely for 'The Iceman' Victor Lindelöf in the penalty area, but he loses his composure and hits his effort high over the bar.

64: Henrikh Mkhitaryan is certainly one to watch in the upcoming season, and he showed us why there. The creative attacker picks the ball in his own half and bursts goalwards at speed, and after linking up with Lukaku shoots wide.

60: Anthony Martial is the next to go close, as the Frenchman fires a fierce ranged effort just over the crossbar. Followed by a double change from the home side, with talented winger Romain Alessandrini and US legend Jermaine Jones coming on for Ari Lassiter and Rafa Garcia.

59: It's been a reasonably quiet start to the second half here at the StubHub Center. Lukaku has been boasting his physical attributes, while the American Reds have been proving their long memories by booing Ashley Cole. Paul Pogba has taken the captain's armband from Carrick, future leader?

FACT: Interesting top three Manchester United trends on Twitter at the moment. Unsurprisingly, Marcus Rashford leads the way and is followed by Jesse Lingard and Michael Carrick. The exciting returnee Andreas Pereira closely trails in fourth though, it's great to have him back.

49: Wow, it could've - and should've - taken a few minutes for Romelu Lukaku to get his first goal for the Reds. Galaxy's substitute 'keeper Brian Rowe gifts the ball to Paul Pogba who had to shoot, but instead played Lukaku in. However, the big frontman opted for power instead of placement and Rowe saved well.

45: SECOND HALF IS UNDERWAY!

LA Galaxy have made several changes of their own, it's a much stronger side so Joel Pereira will hopefully have something to do in the next 45 minutes. Rowe, Romney, Van Damme, Cole, João, Pedro, Giovani, Boateng and McBean all enter the fray.

Manchester United Second Half XI: Joel Pereira; Axel Tuanzebe, Victor Lindelöf, Eric Bailly; Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira, Matteo Darmian; Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku.

An emphatic first half performance from Manchester United, 13 shots to Galaxy's zero. But what's terrifying is that the second half XI could actually be stronger, so expect more goals! If you're still with us, go and get yourself a refreshment, or a caffeine boost. Plenty of action still to come.

45: HALF-TIME! UNITED LEAD 3-0 AT THE BREAK.

44: Huge chance for Rashford to secure a first half hatrick! The skipper lofts a perfect ball over for him to run onto and charge one-on-one with Kempin, but the effort was straight at the incoming goalkeeper and the chance is gone.

42: A free-kick was swung in before the ball eventually fell for Michael Carrick. The experienced midfielder forces a good save low down, only for Smalling to put the ball into the net on the rebound. The offside flag was raised, however, and it remains 0-0.

42. GOA-NO! CHRIS SMALLING SCRAMBLES THE BALL HOME BUT IS OFFSIDE!

40: Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata have been causing major problems, the former especially. Rashford storms towards the box, losing his marker, before back-heeling the ball for Mata who fires just wide of the post.

36: Both benches are now warming up on the sidelines, and there are nine Manchester United players getting ready. It also looks like we'll be seeing some old foes in the second half in the form of Ashley Cole and Giovani dos Santos!

30: We're at the half hour mark, and United look brilliant. LA Galaxy aren't exactly putting up much of a fight though while the biggest cheer of the day has just been for David Beckham, who was shown on the StubHub Center big screen. Legend!

26: That's a fantastic goal, the Reds look like they haven't even been away! Jesse Lingard does really well the breach the defence and gets to the byline, only to cut back and put it on a plate for the big midfielder to power in a third. Lovely stuff, this is waking me up!

26: GOAL! WE HAVE A THIRD, FELLAINI THE SCORER THIS TIME!

20: Marcus Rashford is looking incredibly sharp tonight, and he's jsut got his second goal. Juan Mata threads a clever ball past the vulnerable-looking Galaxy back four, and the teenager takes a touch and - once again - calmly finishes past the 'keeper. United sailing through the first half.

20: GOAL! 2-0! MARCUS RASHFORD AGAIN!

15: A brilliant long-range effort from Juan Mata forces an acrobatic save from Kempin, who palms it away from danger. The Spaniard has looked well-suited to his second striker role so far.

10: You can really tell that LA Galaxy have fielded a team full of inexperienced players. They haven't been able to string three passes together yet, mainly down to a really energetic start by Mourinho's men.

2: Awful start by the hosts, really poor play. Jesse Lingard easily wins the ball after a sloppy throw-in and prods the ball through for Marcus Rashford. The young striker uses his blistering pace to get on the end of it just inside the box and slots it home past Jon Kempin.

2: GOAL! 1-0! IT'S ONLY TAKEN A COUPLE OF MINUTES, MARCUS RASHFORD GIVES UNITED THE LEAD!

0: Kick-off! LA Galaxy get us underway.

The teams are in the tunnel...

At least one superstar is in the stands watching tonight. Manchester United great David Beckham will be watching two of his former clubs in action!

Not long left now! Just under half an hour until the 2017/2018 season is underway. Don't hesitate to tweet me your pre-match thoughts and predictions at @_AlexTurk. Go, go, go! You do that while I go make myself a coffee...

So, the Manchester United First Half XI indicates that we'll get to see both new signings Victor Lindelöf and Romelu Lukaku in the second period, as well as Paul Pogba who'll be looking forward to linking up with the latter. It was confirmed earlier in the week that Lindelöf will be taking the no. 2 shirt, made vacant after Rafael's departure back in 2015, while the big Belgian striker has managed to grasp the iconic no. 9 after "asking for Ibrahimović's permission."

Head Coach Curt Onalfo has chosen a mixture of first-choice players and second choice players and, thanks to unlimited substitutions, is expected to heavily rotate throughout the game, with most changes coming at half-time similarly to United. Additionally, the Galaxy are still without regulars Gyasi Zardes, Sebastian Lletget, Baggio Husidic, Clement Diop and Jose Villarreal.

The hosts line-up in a 4-4-2 formation. LA Galaxy Starting XI: Jon Kempin; Nathan Smith, Danial Steres, Hugo Arellano, Bradley Diallo; Bradford Jamieson IV, Rafael Garcia, Jaime Villarreal, Raul Mendiola; Ariel Lassiter, Jack McInerny.

The Portuguese boss looks to be well and truly using the pre-season campaign to experiment with his squad, as the first half formation appears to be 3-5-2. The defence consists of Jones, Smalling and Blind as the centre-backs, Lingard in a new left-wing-back role and Valencia in his favoured right-wing-back position. New club captain Michael Carrick will be partnered by last season's Player of the Year Ander Herrera while Marouane Fellaini supports Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford up-front.

José Mourinho announced in his pre-match press conference that there'll be a different XI in each half, and now we know who'll be taking the field in the first 45 minutes. Manchester United First Half XI: David De Gea; Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Daley Blind; Antonio Valencia,  Michael Carrick (C), Ander Herrera, Jesse Lingard,  Marouane Fellaini; Juan MataMarcus Rashford.

Former RSC Anderlecht teammate of Romelu Lukaku and LA Galaxy captain Jelle Van Damme has expressed his delight at how he'll get to face the Belgian tonight. “Yeah, it’s always fun [to play in high-profile friendlies]. It’s even more exciting knowing that Rom [Lukaku] is going to play his first game for Manchester United. I spent some time here while he was on holiday so it’s going to be fun to play against him."

The Last Meeting: Manchester United vs LA Galaxy live last met in the 2014 Chevrolet Cup, and it was an interesting watch, to say the least. Louis van Gaal certainly enjoyed his first outing as United boss, as the Reds came out 7-0 victors in an emphatic performance which saw Danny Welbeck's opener added to by braces from Reece James, Ashley Young and newly-named captain Wayne Rooney.

Recently released Manchester United frontman Zlatan Ibrahimović might be watching very closely as he cracks on with his anterior cruciate ligament rehabilitation at the Aon Training Complex, amid reports that he's heading to Hollywood once back to his best condition. Other reports in England suggest that the iconic Swede could be given a six-month contract if fully revitalised by January though, with the player himself admitting that a "big announcement" is coming "very soon."

The visitors will have the whole of their 27-man party to choose from apart from trio Marcos RojoAshley Young and Luke Shaw, who have been working separately from the main group as they look to recover from injury before the 2017/2018 season gets underway against West Ham United at Old Trafford on August 13. United could welcome back exciting returning loanee Andreas Pereira after a positive spell at Granada CF while the home team could give their new signing - Dutch defender Pele van Anholt - a first run-out at some stage in the contest.

Early Manchester United Team News: José Mourinho offered MUTV a bit of insight into his goalkeeping arrangements for the first few games, stating that in the curtain-raiser versus LA Galaxy "Romero does not play. We play David for 45 and the kid [Joel Pereira] for 45." So it seems like the 21-year-old shot-stopper, who Mourinho has previously described as "the best Portuguese goalkeeper of the next generation," will get an opportunity to continue to impress his manager over the course of pre-season.

Ones To Watch: The man most fans will want to see given his debut, of course, the most expensive player exchanged between two British clubs Romelu Lukaku - who is expected to lead the line for at least 45 minutes - and it'll be interesting to see how he links up with best friend Paul Pogba. The hosts have a few well-known players of their own though, including former Chelsea left-back and familiar Premier League rival Ashley Cole along with tricky forward Giovani dos Santos.

LA Galaxy's preparation couldn't have been more different bearing in mind they're midway through their domestic season, struggling in the bottom half of the MLS Western Conference and losing their last three league fixtures. With the Reds playing their last match 51 days ago, in comparison to Galaxy losing 3-2 to San Jose Earthquakes in the Open Cup just four days prior, Curt Onalfo's men should look much fitter which could potentially mean a tough test is in store.

The Manchester United squad returned to normality at Carrington on Saturday before flying to Los Angeles the day after and have gone through two gruelling training sessions a day all week long ahead of the first instalment of their eight-match long pre-season campaign. And there were two new faces in the morning session on Monday after the capture of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku was confirmed earlier on in the day, adding to the arrival of SL Benfica centre-back Victor Lindelöf earlier on in the transfer window.

The venue of the action is the Stubhub Center - originally named the Home Depot Center - where there'll be approximately 27,000 spectators with most expected to be cheering on José Mourinho's side, despite it being the home of the California-based outfit. The stadium was one of the first built specifically for Major League Soccer, but now also boasts an impressive cycling velodrome, tennis arena, as well as an outdoor track and field facility that can hold up to 20,000 people.
