Southampton have recalled Jack Stephens from Middlesbrough , while also extending the loans of defender Jason McCarthy and winger Lloyd Isgrove to Wycombe and Barnsley respectivley.

Southampton have recalled defender Jack Stephens from his loan spell at Middlesbrough. The 21 year old joined the Championship club in July and was expected to remain there until the end of the season but , to the frustration of Ronald Koeman, he only made five first team appearances. Four of those five matches being in the Capital One Cup. 

Koeman voiced his opinion on the matter saying "Jack is back from MiddlesbroughHe wasn't playing there and then why is he on loan if he doesn't play? It's better for him to come back." Just before joining 'Boro, Stephens signed a new two year contract extension to keep him at the club until 2019. His return comes, shortly after there were reports that Koeman may end the loan of Steven Caulker and send him back to parent club QPR.

McCarthy and Isgrove extend with respective clubs

Saints youngster Jason McCarthy has extended his loan with Wycombe Wanderers until Feburary 3rd. The defender had only joined the club in October and has helped them rise into the play-off places in League 2. He has performed well up until now as well as netting two goals against AFC Wimbledon and Oxford United. He has made 15 apperences in all competitions so far and will be hoping to be involved against Premier league strugglers Aston Villa in the FA cup this weekend. There could be up to six matches for the youngster in this extra month.

Southampton winger Lloyd Isgrove has extended his loan with Barnsley until the 23rd January.The 22 year old joined the club in October , and has helped them to come clear of the drop zone. He has featured in eleven matches so far for the Yorkshire club , and put in a man of the match showing against Blackpool in the recent round of games. He's got a chance of helping the club too Wembley as they face Fleetwood at Oakwell in the first leg of the Northern area final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
