Southampton attacking midfielder Lloyd Isgrove, who is currently on loan at Barnsley in the Football League, has today earned another call-up to the senior Wales squad after a number of fine performances for the League One club.
Isgrove has been in fine form for the Tykes look to reach the play-offs at the end of the season and the call comes as nothing of a surprise.
The winger has been playing incredibly well since making the move last October and has played a key role in their surge up the table after they were in the bottom three just before Christmas time.
He has won five caps for the Welsh before so this won't be anything new for Isgrove, but it is his first call since 2014.
Wales' first friendly sees them pit their wits against Steven Davis Northern Ireland on Thursday 24th March, with a kick-off time of 7.45pm GMT.
This is quite a big fixture for the Welsh as they come up against close neighbours and it is one which they will not want to lose.
They then go onto face Ukraine on Monday 28th March, with a kick-off time of 5pm BST. The game in Ukraine will be another big test for the Welsh as they look to get ready for this summer’s European Championship in France where they will face England, Russia and Slovakia in the group stages.
Getting back into the squad at this late stage is perfect for Isgrove as he can really show the Wales management staff just how good a player he is and why they should be keeping firm tabs on him in the run to the end of the season.
With the Euros on the horizon, this is a great stage for Isgrove to show just why he should be going to the prestigious competition in the summer. And you would now say he is odds on to go to as long as he stays injury free and maintains good form.
Both Virgil Van Dijk and Jordy Clasie have made the final squad of 23 of the Netherlands for their matches against England and France in the coming weeks.
The pair were both named in the original squad of 40 players before it was yesterday trimmed down to a final squad of 23.
