Crystal Palace's new American investors have gotten off to a perfect start in the Premier League after Alan Pardew's side beat Stoke City at the Brittannia stadium 2-1 after a dramatic climax to the game in which substitute Lee Chung-Yong's sensational 25 yard strike saw Mark Hughes' side defeated at home.

First half troubles

The first half was mutually dull from both teams respectively, although Stoke looked the most dominant in regards to possession and shots as Xherdan Shaqiri continually asked questions of the Palace defence with his striving runs, it was instead palace that went into the end of the first half in the lead.

A correct penalty descision in first half injury time, The goal was netted past Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland who failed to stop Connor Wickham's central penalty kick after Stoke defender Glen Whelan bundled the Crystal Palace forward Wilfreid Zaha in the box. Palace's opening goal at the Brittannia marks the first time that Stoke have conceded in 542 minutes in game with Ryan Shawcross at the heart of the seemingly impenetrable Stoke defence.

Downed but not out

Stoke forward Marko Arnautovic had provided Stoke with the most promising attacking potential after the two teams returned for the remainder of the game as  Wayne Hennessey saved several of his goalward bound strikes.

However it was again a penalty that would see Stoke return back into the game with promise and potential after Palace central defender Dennis Deleaney handled the ball in the box. Bojan finished his twelve yard strike perfectly, but most importantly he gave Mark Hughe's side a chance to get back into the game, with the home faithful now fully behind the potters.

A point seemed the most likely as the game progressed, with two solid teams currently in the Premier League going head to head. For all of Stoke's cumulative shots they never seemed to trouble Palace's goal. However as the game reached it's pinnacle, Palace substitute Lee Chung-Yong decided that victory was to be given to the away side as his stunning 25 yard strike was too much even for Jack Butland, who is arguably the Premier Leagues most in form keeper at the moment.

In the dying moments of the game, Alan Pardew's side reigned supreme to steal all three points away from a dominant Stoke side who controlled the majority of the game.

Stoke now need to rekindle their old magic as they look forward to another home clash against Louis Van Gaal's troubled Manchester United side on Boxing day.
