It was announced that Dutch international Bruno Martins Indi has earned himself a call up the Holland side after Kongolo was ruled out of the squad through injury.

The Stoke City centre-back will join up with the squad for the fixtures against Belgium and Luxembourg respectively.

The call-up will come as no surprise to Stoke fans, who have seen their side's defensive woes diminish with the acquisition of Martins Indi. The centre-half has built up an exceptional partnership with Captain Ryan Shawcross, who was once again overlooked for the England side. The Dutch side will be hoping that he carries the rich vein of form he is currently in onto the international stage.

Call-ups for a host of Stoke players

Republic of Ireland duo, Jon Walters and Glenn Whelan, have also received call-ups for the nation's World Cup qualifier against Austria. They will be lining up against Stoke maverick Marko Arnautovic, who is used to scoring against sides with current Stoke players in as he scored against Wales in a side including fan favourite Joe Allen.

The in-form Joe Allen has also received a call-up after displaying some brilliant form during October, scoring four goals for club and country combined. The goals return is one of the best streaks in Allen’s career and is probably the most unexpected addition to his game, after not previously being known for a goal scoring number ten.

The midfielder's inclusion in the Stoke side has kept another fan favourite Bojan out of the starting XI, who is seen by some as the club's best finisher. This showcases just how well Allen has played since his move to the Potteries and both club and country are reaping the benefits.

Cameron and Shaqiri not included

Both Geoff Cameron and Xhedran Shaqiri will not be joining up with their international teams, however, after picking up injuries in recent weeks.
