Sunderland are still keen on bringing Swansea City winger Andre Ayew to the Stadium of Light this summer, after it is understood that he wants a move away from the Liberty Stadium.

The Black Cats tried to capture Ayew back in January, but a bid in excess of £10million was rejected by the Swans, who are looking to push on themselves next season.

That bid has led to more speculation that Sam Allardyce may well close in on the winger to try and bolster his side ahead of the new campaign.

It isn’t a big secret that Allardyce is a big follower of Ayew and the manager is targeting him as he looks to bring in players that fit the five areas in which he is aiming to strengthen this off season.

Sunderland are yet to make another approach, but Ayew has revealed that he is willing to leave the Welsh club after just one season there.

“There are good characteristics we have discovered with him and I hope he stays,” Guidolin said to the Echo.

Swans boss Francesco Guidolin is determined to keep hold of the winger after he netted 12 times last season, but West Ham are also interested in luring him away from the Liberty Stadium.

Guidolin labelled the Ghanaian international as a “big player” and an “important” one for his side, who thrived with Ayew in the side last season.

Winger has big aspirations

Ayew still has three years remaining on his contract and it is believed that Swansea would cash in on the winger if they are offered a sum around the £15million mark.

There is interest by other clubs around Europe for the former Marseille man, and in a recent interview on French television, he stated that he still has aspirations to play Champions League football.

“Of course, every player wants to play for the Champions League or the title. A time will come when I’ll aim for these,” Ayew said.

The winger stated that he wouldn’t “talk a lot” about what he managed to achieve with the Swans this season, but he did mention that club are after his signature.
