Miller Bolanos’ agent has confirmed Swansea City’s interest in the forward.
There have been reports both this summer and as far back as last summer that Swansea have been interested in the Gremio forward, but now his agent has confirmed these reports.
Jose Chamorro, the 26-year old’s agent, told Radio Caravana that Swansea are interested in the player and he wants to play European football.
What did his agent say?
Jose Chamorro said that there are clubs in Europe that are interested in Bolanos, and there are offers for the player. Chamorro also said that he [Bolanos] wants to play in Europe, but is still playing in Brazil.
He continued to say: “It's true interest from Swansea. Swansea was interested in Miller Bolanos before and now.”
How long have Swansea been keen on Bolanos?
Swansea have been linked with Bolanos as early as June 2015, and has been reportedly interesting the club on and off ever since.
The club were once again heavily linked with Bolanos in March 2016, just a month after he joined Gremio.
Where does he fit into the side?
Bolanos can play either as a striker, or in one of the attacking positions off of the striker. He has been used mainly in a wide role and behind the striker for Gremio.
Swansea however have a lack of strikers in their squad, with Eder and Alberto Paloschi already departed the club, while Bafetimbi Gomis and Marvin Emnes are likely to join them.
There’s also a number of wingers at the club, more so than perhaps needed. Andre Ayew, Wayne Routledge, Modou Barrow, Jefferson Montero and Nathan Dyer are all on the books and look unlikely to move.
One would assume that if he did make the move to Swansea, Bolanos would be tried as a striker. The only recognised striker that is in the squad for the US tour is Oliver McBurnie though, so if this is Swansea’s only incoming striker, the fans might not be best pleased.
A move to Swansea would also see Bolanos link up with Ecuadorian teammate Montero, who has no doubt been in the forward’s ear about the club.
