Swansea City forward Marvin Emnes has joined EFL Championship side Blackburn Rovers on loan until January 15th 2017.
The 28-year-old forward has yet to impress Francesco Guidolin after only featuring in a handful of fixtures since the Italian took the reins back in the 2015/16 season. Now seemingly falling further down the pecking order than youngster Oli McBurnie, it is believed that both parties were keen on sorting out a loan deal for the opportunity of first team football.
The forward who can play on the flanks, as a number ten or a lone striker was a firm Swansea favourite after scoring in the South Wales Derby against rivals Cardiff City back in 2010. That was in fact Emnes’ first of three spells with the club. He was brought in on what was a one-month loan from Middlesbrough. Even after pleading to Boro manager Tony Mowbray to extend his loan period with Swansea he returned to Middlesbrough once the loan had expired.
The dreadlocked Dutchman returned to Wales four years later when he signed yet another loan deal at the Swans which was until the end of the Season. After scoring his first back for the club in May of that year, Emnes was then signed on a permanent deal which saw him pen a three-year contract.
Since then he has gone on to make only 25 appearances for the club, scoring 3 goals.
The forward will now link up with Owen Coyle and his Blackburn squad who have not got off to a great start, losing four out of five league games and also sit bottom of the table with just one point.
Coyle will hope that new summer signings will change their current form and start earning them some points for the board after making some good signings in the form of Chalrie Mulgrew, Anthony Stokes, Liam Feeney and former Swansea man Danny Graham.
