Erik Lamela has revealed that he's hoping to become the latest in a flurry of Tottenham Hotspur stars to extend their contract, in the coming weeks.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard, the winger emphasised his current happiness, and explained that he's looking to secure a deal that will maintain and further his stay at White Hart Lane.

Spurs going contract crazy

Tottenham players such as Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Kevin Wimmer and Dele Alli have all already signed contract extensions this season, with those high up at Spurs looking to secure the future of Mauricio Pochettino's young stars.

Lamela has just under two years left on his current deal, having signed a five-year-contract when joining from AS Roma in 2013, and is hoping to become the latest to put pen to paper.

Asked about signing a new contract, Lamela stated "I'd like to [sign a deal]" and went on to comment that he's "very happy here [Tottenham]," adding "I feel part of this team which is improving. I have a group of excellent team-mates and I feel very good around them."

Will Lamela be next?

You wouldn't blame Daniel Levy and co for looking to hand Lamela a new deal as quickly as possible, given his fantastic start to the season, however it's thought that Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris are also on Levy's hit-list when it comes to contracts.

Remaining coy when asked whether he will be the next man to sign, Lamela simply said "let's hope so," before explaining that he's currently only focused on Saturday's game against Leicester City

Spurs will be hoping to defeat the Foxes come the weekend, having drawn their past two league games. A win could move them into top spot, depending on other results.
