West Ham United's club-record signing Andre Ayew, has said that the Hammers will be looking to start the season "really well."
Start as you mean to go on
Ayew became the Hammers most expensive signing, with his £20.5million from Swansea City.
He is one of Slaven Bilic's seven signings this summer, ahead of a historic season for the club, after moving from the Boleyn Ground to the London Stadium.
The Hammers will open their league season with a tough trip to London rivals Chelsea, and the Ghanaian looks to get amongst it straight away.
He told whufc.co.uk: “I would love to get on the scoresheet straight away," before adding that "I am going to have a good week of training behind me and hopefully we can go there and get a good result."
Ayew continued to say that “It will be tough against Chelsea in front of their new manager and their home fans," but that he wants to “Start the season really well, but we know it is going to be a difficult game," he admitted "We are playing away from home but it is not impossible for us to get a good result."
One familiar face that Ayew will be excited to play with, is Hammers star Dimitri Payet.
Payet has become a firm favourite amongst the Hammers faithful, and his teammate of three years at Marseille is looking forward to playing with him once again.
He said: “We played for about three-years together and built a great relationship," and admitted "I am happy to be in the same squad with him again and he is a great player."
Ayew concluded: "I think he can do even more. We worked together for a long time and I know his style of play.”
West Ham United will take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday, August 15 with kick-off at 8pm BST.
