Celtic will celebrate 125 years of history this season and what better way to mark it than by hosting Inter Milan in a pre-season friendly Saturday 28th july, kick-off 1:30pm (GMT) This promises to be a great occasion for all involved with Celtic the fans, staff, players both past and present, and with it will bring many wonderful memories flooding back to those lucky enough to have witnessed that game on the 25th of may 1967 in Lisbon when Jock Stein’s Celtic went into the history books as they became the first ever British team to win the european cup, and for those who were not alive to see it happen they will get a chance to see the remaining Lisbon Lions (as well as some of the ’72 team that played Inter in the semi) on the pitch with the biggest club trophy in the world. There will also be a minutes applause before kick-off for the late Joe McBride a Celtic legend that sadly past away recently and although never played in the Lisbon final due to injury was still very much a major part of the Lisbon Lions team.

This 2012 match between the two sides has all the makings to be one of the best pre-season friendlies this year as it is Celtic’s last before their first leg, third round qualifier for the champions league against HJK Helsinki on Wednesday, and Inter Milan are also taking it as very serious preperation for their upcoming season with Andrea Stramaccioni selecting a strong squad which includes the likes of Diego Milito, Javier Zanetti, Cristian Chivu Wesley Sneijder, and Esteban Cambiasso. So the fans at Celtic park and those watching from the outside will be in for a treat to see these stars of european and world football in this glamour friendly all eager to get back into action and play the game they love so much again. Sneijder has stated that he hopes to play against Celtic as the ‘stadium and fans are always amazing’ having already experienced Celtic park when he played for Ajax, and that Inter are totally focused on this game as it is the ‘biggest of their pre-season so far’ so it is safe to say that they will all be wanting some game time. Tickets for the match will be available at the Celtic ticket office right up until kick-off at 1;30pm (GMT) priced at - season book holders: £15 adults £5 concessions, non- season book holders £20 adults £10 concessions.
