Djurgården, Linköping and Rosengård were the winners of week ten in the Damallsvenskan with respective wins over KGFC, Vittsjö and LB07. Elsewhere, KIF held on for a scoreless draw against PIF, Hammarby saw a three goal lead evaporate against KIK and Kristianstad nabbed a draw against Eskilstuna.
Djurgården 2-0 Kopparbergs/Göteborg
After Sarah Teegarden was adjudged to have fouled Tempest-Marie Norlin in the box just before the half hour, the hosts were given a golden opportunity to take the lead in Stockholm, Shelia van den Bulk reliable as ever from the spot to send 15-year-old Anna Larsson the wrong way.
The visitors responded well in the second-half, and had chance after chance to find an equaliser although Guðbjörg Gunnarsdóttir was in little mood to relinquish her clean sheet and kept KG out at every turn. With Icelandic goalkeeping heroics at one end, the hosts were given the chance to counter and put the game to bed, Katrin Schmidt’s slipped ball for Johanna Rytting Kaneryd weighted perfectly for the 20-year-old to run onto and slip under Larsson with little more than ten minutes left on the clock.
The win, DIF’s third on the bounce sees them up to fifth, conversely without a win in the last seven, Göteborg continue to hang just above the danger zone.
KIF Örebro 0-0 Piteå
With a much-improved defence, Örebro were able to keep a rampant Piteå team at arm’s length throughout, finishing slightly wayward for both although both defences did their part to stand tall and block and clear where possible.
The point another vital one for KIF's tally though it does little help as they still labour in dead last, for PIF it’s their third unlucky result of the year, the team from the north perfectly comfortable and safe in the table but easily could have been challenging top two.
Vittsjö 0-2 Linköping
Despite having put in some impressive performances this year, Vittsjö were second best at home to table-toppers, Linköping, Shannon Lynn kept extra busy throughout as the visitors looked to threaten at every turn. With LFC on top it was just a matter of time before the visiting team took the lead, Marija Banušić more than happy to oblige ten minutes before the break with a curled free kick that slipped just beyond Lynn’s reach.
Still needing a cushion in the match, Kristine Minde popped up at the start of the second-half to volley Lina Hurtig’s whipped cross in to beat Lynn just inside of the post and give the hosts little chance of mounting a come-back. The win enough to keep the reigning champions clear at the top, Vittsjö still just about safe.
Kvarnsveden 3-3 Hammarby
Able to take a quick-fire three goal lead in Borlänge, 19-year-old Filippa Angeldahl was at the heart of Hammarby’s commanding lead, three whipped corners producing three headers good enough to beat the home defence. The first was nodded directly in at the back post by Alexandra Lindberg less than ten minutes in before Olga Ekbolm flicked her header back through Jenny Wahlén’s hands after Anna Oskarsson had nodded the ball towards goal. Oskarsson involved again seven minutes later to direct the ball back into the mixer, Julia Zigiotti’s rising header enough to give the visitors their third.
Knowing more than enough about teams who take early three goal leads and lose them, Hammarby were powerless to keep the hosts out, Tabita Chawinga’s first goal similar to what other teams have seen from her before as she broke behind with the ball before firing beyond the ‘keeper. Julia Roddar’s floated effort from the edge of the box less than ten minutes into the second-half saw HIF’s unassailable lead shrivel to one before Chawinga tied the two sides up just before the hour when she out-muscled the defence and slotted the ball home at the near post.
Well on top during the second-half, KIK might even be disappointed not to take all three points from their encounter, Hammarby left feeling a little like Göteborg.
Kristianstad 1-1 Eskilstuna United
Coming into the game with mixed fortunes so far this year, Eskilstuna were looking to stop the rot or at the very least score, as they had failed to do in their last two as Kristianstad were looking to keep up with the good points haul, having seen a healthy return on recent performances.
With the better chances from the get-go, KDFF looked to have slipped back to old ways as chance after chance came without an end product, Emelie Lundberg in fine form in the away goal. Luck not on the host’s side five minutes before the break when Sif Atladóttir somewhat fell over the ball in an attempt to clear Hanna Glas’ low cross and ended up nudging it past Brett Maron and into her own goal.
Not a side to let their heads drop, Kristianstad came out well after the break and found an equaliser ten minutes after the restart when Therese Ivarsson flew in at the back post to nod Rita Chikwelu’s dinked cross against the underside of the bar. Despite Lundberg snatching the ball as it bounced down off of the woodwork, Malin Johansson adjudged the ball to have crossed the line before the ‘keeper gabbed it. But still unable to get the rub of the green, stalwart Ivarsson was forced off less than twenty minutes before full time with what looked like a serious injury.
Still with time and chances for both, neither were able to find the clinical touch to steal all three points, Eskilstuna beginning to drift from the top two.
Rosengård 3-0 Limhamn Bunkeflo
In a rather historic Malmo derby, the hosts took the lead twenty minutes in when Lieke Martens’ ran onto Ali Riley’s neat ball to fire into the side of the netting from the centre of the box, the two combining again just before the break with the same results.
Despite seeing considerably less of the ball, LB still managed to work the odd opening, the visitors denied two times inside of five seconds when Erin McLeod punched Anna Björk Kristjánsdóttir’s header away before the Icelandic international fired back at goal only to see her effort cleared off of the line by Martens.
With all three points safely banked there was still time for the hosts to grab a third in the last minute of regular time, Iva Landeka left in acres of space on the far side of the box to sweep Lina Nilsson’s scuffed ball into the waiting net and keep FCR hot on Linköping’s heels.
