Mainz have announced the signing of the South Korean captain Ja-Cheol Koo. He signed from VfL Wolfsburg in a fee reported to be around €3mil. Koo had made ten appearances this season in the Bundesliga and joins Mainz on a deal until 2018.

Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel said, "He is a very tough, versatile player with exceptional technical qualities and a high work rate. His way of playing football and his character make him a very good addition to our team. I'm very happy that we've managed to complete this transfer, as he can give our team an extra boost."

Koo will find himself at a high rising Mainz as Tuchel’s side sit in 9th place after 17 games in the Bundesliga. He will add to an already impressive squad that Tuchel has built this season and at only €3mil Koo looks set to be a bargain.
