Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez would consider joining Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo. There is yet to be a concrete offer from Barcelona towards Martinez as of yet, although the Spaniard would be open to a switch if a deal could be struck. Mundo Deportivo previously reported a potential switch for Martinez directly from Bilbao to Barcelona, until he opted for Juup Heynckes' Bayern in the summer of 2012.

As Mundo Deportivo's reports are suggesting, Martinez isn't rumoured to be unhappy or unsettled within Munich currently. Last season is one that he will arguably never conquer in the rest of his career in terms of team achievements, as well as becoming a key cog in the Bayern machine of the 2012/13 season. Martinez formed a strong connection with Bastian Schweinsteiger, making the pair the feared heart of Bayern Munich's dynamic approach last season, whilst proving imperative into their success.

This season, however, has proven to be a different tale for Javi Martinez. An early season injury blighted his chances initially under Pep Guardiola as he struggled to force his way into the Bayern side, although scoring a crucial leveller against Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup. From Pep's team selections this year, it signals that he is not overly convinced with Martinez - as new recruit Thiago, Toni Kroos, Bastian Schweinsteiger and newly formed central midfielder Philipp Lahm are all favoured in the two central midfield roles. Martinez' chances have been limited by the form of his team mates, resulting in him being deployed in central defence - where he has looked less than convincing, more often than not.

Martinez does not seem to be a firm favourite under Pep Guardiola, in contrast to Heynckes' reign, but there isn't any suggestions that the Spaniard is unsettled or rattled by his current situation. However, he has previously stated that it would be hard to refuse an offer from Barcelona. If an opportunity to change the Allianz for the Camp Nou materialises, Martinez could well grab it with both hands.
