James Rodriguez has today completed a dream move to Real Madrid for a staggering £63 million. Having spent a single season in Ligue 1 for AS Monaco, a jaw-dropping World Cup campaign has led to the Colombian international achieving a boyhood dream of playing for Europe's most prestigious club. Having bagged the golden boot in Brazil this summer, the 23-year old lept onto the world stage, scoring 6 goals including a stunning 25-yard volley against Uruguay, a goal which helped push Colombia through to the quarter finals, where they were knocked out by the hosts, following a gritty 2-1 defeat in which Rodriguez scored his sixth goal in 5 games from the penalty spot, but the goal turned out to be no more than a consolation.

Since Colombia's World Cup exit, rumours have been flying about James Rodriguez' future, and at the forefront of all rumours, Real Madrid. As per usual, Los Blancos were rumoured to be throwing money at Monaco for the midfielder. Being well known for splashing the cash, including an £85 million fee for Gareth Bale last summer. But surely that fee wouldn't be matched for a man who has only become a household name in the last few weeks? It wasn't, but it's still a hefty fee for a 23-year old. And with a price tag that large comes a lot of pressure and expectation, but will the attacking-midifelder be able to handle all of it?

Rodriguez was presented at the Bernabeu in front of thousands of fans. These presentations are becoming a thing of tradition at Madrid, with Toni Kroos also having one in the last few days. Rodriguez has been given the number 10 shirt, which is only fitting as it is likely that he will be playing in the number 10 role. Fans were itching to see their new signing in action as he stepped out onto the pitch for the first time. Having been given a football, he did the usual keepie uppies, before launching some into the crowd for fans to keep hold of as memorbilia of what could be the day a new star was signed.
