VfB Stuttgart have confirmed the signing of FC Basel midfielder Geoffroy Serey Die until 2017.

The vastly experienced Ivory Coast international will join up with Stuttgart at the end of the African Cup of Nations, with Die currently in the semi-finals.

He has left the current Swiss champions after 68 games, now taking up the number 26 with the Swabians. In relation to a transfer fee, both clubs have not yet made those details public.

"We are pleased with the commitment of Serey Die," said new VfB sporting director Robin Dutt. He added: "He is an experienced international player who will quickly find his feet in the new environment.

"His uncompromising style of play is to provide stability for us. With him, we have found the experienced player we were looking for as a reference points for our young players."

The Ivory Coast face DR Congo in the AFCON semi-final on Wednesday, with a final or third-place play-off game or final at the weekend. That should mean he will make his VfB debut on Saturday February 14th.
