Hamburger SV will be without striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga for at least two matches and up to ten days, after he suffered a thigh muscle injury in training on Monday evening, the club said on Tuesday.

Hamburg, in 16th place and battling to avoid relegation, travel to promoted Paderborn on Wednesday before hosting Hanover 96 on Saturday.

Lasogga will miss the two games out of precaution following long spells out injured after he had to stop training early, mid yesterday afternoon with the thigh injury.

"Hamburg will have to do without Lasogga for some time," the club said in a statement. He pulled a muscle in his right thigh during training on Monday evening."  HSV announced.

Coach Joe Zinnbauer has a replacement for Lasogga with experienced Croatian striker Ivica Olic who signed from VfL Wolfsburg last week.

Lasogga hasn’t shown his true potential as of yet this season. In nineteen appearances he has only netted twice in the colours of Hamburg since joining from Hertha Berlin for £7million, in the summer, following a successful loan spell at the Imtech Arena.
