VfR Aalen boss, Stefan Ruthenbeck, has now publicly declared that he would like to take over at SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

Ruthenbeck is highly thought-of in German football circles and, despite Aalen finishing bottom of the 2. Bundesliga, seems set to get another crack at the second tier.

Fürth, who narrowly avoided relegation themselves, are currently in negotiations with Aalen over a compensation fee for his services.

The 43-year-old has a contract with the now 3. Liga side until 2017, though directior Michael Mutzel has said he is hopeful of a quick conclusion to talks:

"We currently expect that it will work. We want to resolve the matter as quickly as possible."

President Helmut Hack has also acknowledged that he wants Ruthenbeck to lead the team next season, something the coach has noted:

"I want to go to Fürth. I also had other interesting offers, but Mr. Hack has made everything clear with me.

"I am sure that the contractual situation in Aalen will be clarified," he concluded.
